Few details given on new rally-inspired compact

After the introduction and lukewarm reception of the 2015 Subaru WRX at the LA Auto Show, observers have been keenly interested in what a new WRX STI has in store for enthusiasts.

Next week, we will find out for sure, as Subaru plans to reveal the new WRX STI at the Detroit Auto Show.

No details have been given on the new high-powered all-wheel drive compact. However, it’s been rumoured the STI will continue to be powered by a force-fed 2.5-litre boxer four-cylinder cranking out around 300 hp.

One thing is for certain: there will be no hatchback.

UPDATE: And here it is in the flesh, rocking the iconic rally blue paint and gold wheels.
