SCTA may extend World Finals event from four to seven days

The Southern California Timing Association, responsible for Bonneville ‘Speed Week’ activities, has cancelled the event due to precipitation.

The dry lake was turned into a literal lake thanks to heavy rain in the area. Two speed record courses were fully saturated with water and organizers pulled the chute on the event on Saturday, August 9th.

‘Speed Week’, which was to celebrate 100 years of speed record racing on the Bonneville Salt Flats this week, was scheduled to run until August 15th.

SCTA may extend a later event, World Finals, in order to accommodate more racing due to the cancellation.
