If you can live with poor visibility and a tiny back seat, the Chrysler 200 convertible is an attractive deal in fully-loaded S trim.

The advantage of this car over the Mustang, for example, noted in the early part of the article was negated in the latter paragraphs. i.e. rear seat legroom. They sound about the same. So what we are left with is a $37000, 4000 lb., barge that will see its resale value drop like an anchor, or a $27000, decently performing, 3600 lb. vehicle that will retain its value quite well. Some decisions in life are difficult - this one is not.

I couldnt imagine actually buying one of these with my own money, renting it for driving around Oahu on vacation.....ok....if there is no Mustang available. For $45K, not even a contest, Mustang GT all the way, better looking, way better performance, will had some semblance of resale value and that oh so sweet V8. I think this car will remain the bread and butter for rental fleets and retirees who arent looking for an exciting convertible to pull behind their motorcoach.
Lighten up Francis.....

One of the worst cars I have ever driven. I wanted to rent another car and abandon the 200 in Mirimichi

i find they feel really big... as in heavy.

i don't hate them... but agree that there are better choices out there... but as mentioned, octogenarians who are all about domestics are still going to stick with it over the stang or camero.

its just a lackluster car. if i'm getting an "inexpensive" fun, domestic convertible... i'll take a wrangler.

I see many Sebring convertibles around Winnipeg...maybe this is where they come to die.

I dont think anyone looking at the Sebring is going to look at a Wrangler, I agree with you, if I wanted a convertible the Wrangler is the only way to go for me.

I guess the point is you don't have a lot of options if you want a "cheap" hardtop for an all year round car?

nah... cirrus/stratus/breeze were boring as all hell... but so was everything in the 90's in that category.

lebaron... they rocked!

thats just because a mark cross edition 1982 lebaron convertible was my first car...

I used to have a Stratus (not a cabriolet though). I bought it when it was 5 years old and sold it 6 years later when it was falling apart.

I really liked the car, it was a cheap Grand Tourer and the 2.5V6 was a very good engine. It was the first car I owned that was comfortable enough to drive in 2 days from Portugal to the Netherlands. Not because we had to but because driving went smooth and the car kept us fresh enough and we didn't feel the need to stop after 800km so we kept on driving and did 1200km/day.

The the build quality though was not so good and from what I've heard the replacement of the Mitsubishi 2.5 for a Chrysler developed 2.7 made the car a total lemon.
The 200 hasn't been improved enough to take the car out of the citrus family.
