Best Car Lease for $300
« on: September 24, 2006, 01:40:57 pm »
Hi.

Im looking to lease a car at the moment and i have around $300 (including tax) pcm in my budget.

What would people recommend?

My criteria are...

Cheap to Insure, economical on fuel and if i can help it, no downpayment's.

Thanks.

P.S. I have been looking for a website which compares lease costs on all the manufacturors to answer this question but no luck so far. If anyone know a good source let me know.

Look at the subcompacts too.

What might fit in the budget:

Yaris, Accent, Cobalt, Caliber, Focus and that new Suzuki SX4....

Both the Mazda3 an the Rabbit are great choices.  Can you really get a Rabbit for $300/month?

When they were introduced I remember them being offered at $200/month.  Not sure where they are now, but definately worth checking out.

Any of the 15k-ish cars before taxes should suit your needs and price range

Yeah that $200 a month was like $8000 down though.

Infinity is pulling that same trick. 2006 G35 for 299.00/month lease!

Fine print: $9000 downpayment + 299 first monthly payment + 1564 freight and pdi, all due when you pick up the car.

I know the 350Z is crazy expensive to insure in BC...  not sure how the Infiniti stacks up in comparison.

Define cheap.  The Infiniti is a good brand...but like most cars in the lux segment, you gotta pay to play.

Infiniti is no more expensive than a regular car ... in that price range.  :) The driver have more to do with the actual individual premium. Dad's 02 I35 is 30% more than his 2000 Corolla CE.

For under $300 ... the Ford Focus and/ or the Chevy Cobalt should fit that very nicely, could be more incentives with Ford and GM too.

Unless things have improved drastically I'd be wary of the Cobalt, on the CR reliability scale it was the very worst of all the small cars in its first year.

Try leasebusters, there are a bunch of relatively new cars posted under $300/month and it won't cost you anything up front.

Otherwise you're going to be hard pressed to find something new for under $300 with zero down.   Most ads you'll see for cheap new cars are either going to require up to $1500 out of pocket at signing or they won't have any base models in stock.

You're best bets for new are going to be a Cobalt/Pursuit/ION/Optra.  Cheap to run and insure and very low interest rates for leasing.  An 06 Elantra might work as well, the rates are under 1% as far as I remember.
2019 Mazda 3 GS-L, 2013 Ram 1500 and an EV that cost 5 times what my Mazda3 costs but is louder with a crappier interior.

I love those luxury car ads with $299, $399 or whatever lease payments.  Heck, you could lease a new Ferarri for $199/month with a big enough downpayment!  Stupid.

I phoned the local Infiniti dealership 2 weeks ago ... $12,000 down on the FX35 to make the lease payment as advertised ... if I had $12,000 on hand ... fack ... I would be rich! ...  enuff to be King for a Day!  :)
