They're ok but I much prefer the R129. It's a modern classic IMO.

I saw a very nice SLK 55 the other day.

My current obsession.  The old debate, M3 (V8) vs C63 vs XFR.

The answer is Golf R, MX-5, and/or Corvette. Unless it's Tesla. That is all.  ;D

An alternative SLK upgrade(?) instead of the R230 I posted above would be a C5 Z06. It's no doubt a sportier, faster and easier to maintain. I am just a little worried that it's too close to the F-bodies I already have, so I'd get bored of it really quick. Plus, I appreciate the variety the Mercedes adds to the fleet.

A pointless argument when I need rear seats.

I could never get on board the E90 generation, M3 included. While the E46 is a dream car for me, the V8 M3 just never did it for me, not the way it looked, sounded, or the intérieur. But to each his own.

I prefer the high-strung rasp of the S54 motor. Controversial though, some hated the "racket/clatter". In general, I prefer inline-6s to V8s, unless they happen to scream like a Ferrari 458.

Ummm..it does scream.  It's redline is 8500 vs 9000 for the Ferrari.

And yea..I agree.  The clatter of that BMW I6 sounded like :censor:.  I'm a fan of I6s though.  We still have one.

I wouldn't exactly say obsessing but the past couple of days I've been looking at G37's and EX37's on trader.ca and Kijiji...

Today?

http://www.kijiji.ca/v-cars-trucks/ottawa/2006-volvo-v50-v50-t5-turbo-free-winter-tires-rims/1204630374?enableSearchNavigationFlag=true

Manual transmission wagons appeal to me. It's a bit old, yes, but it'd be great for road trips (and I'd like to go see a good chunk of the country next year)

Cool!  And it has a V5!!  Must take some kind of action to balance that!  :P ;D

I am curious though...are Volvo's considered reliable in the whole FGC sense?  Are those 5cyls good?  Turbo's better than most? I like the looks of some of them, and if you can get one with a V8? Vy nawt!  (wasn't their V8 done by Yamaha too? Like SHO's of old?) Older one's are surely cheap by now (and by that I mean I'm going to have to go look when I'm done here).

Bummer.  LS swap?  ;D

Or like this one in Wpg...maybe he sold it by now.

No! Doh! Dammit...that's a Jag  :banghead: :bang:  :run:...looks like I never kept a copy, and it's no longer on Kijiji...but it was an older square Volvo - late 80's early 90's ish, with a 5.0 and a T5 swap.  $4500 or less I think the last time I saw it.  It was this one...don't know how to look up past internet history archives.

I'm sure there's risk  :-\. But I'll be walking to work soon, so worth the risk, right? right?

I'll do more research when I'm closer to buying. Besides, if rrocket sells me his LS I won't have room for the volvo too!
