I find this to be a bit of an odd duck. I like the Mullay reference though!

I'm trying to remember all the ones I've seen.  Oh yeah...1.  Just 1 IS convertible in the last few years since it's been out is all I've ever seen on the road.

The IS sales have been on a steady decline the last few years for NA.  I wonder what the sales numbers of the IS350c would look like compared to the G convertible?

I don't think I've ever seen one of these on the road. I imagine they're more popular in places like Florida and Southern California, but even so... If one wants an expensive convertible, there are options I would pick easily over the IS.

Which would you rather drive?.......... the Lexus IS 350c or the Porsche Boxster S (both cost about $60 k).
Sorry, I couldn't resist that comparison they're on the same page ;)

Really depends on how the car will be driven, if you driving it hard the Boxster, if it just for country road with your wife then the Lexus, at least you know it will get you home

About $60k? I would hardly call $69,500 about 60K.

Boxster S:
Base Price: $69,500
Boxster PDK: $73,160

Lexus IS 350c
Base price: $57,000

I also don't think people who are interested in the Lexus are cross shopping the Porsche.

"Why would write that?" - Because it's true.

Oh, and Porsche is leading in the JD Power quality survey (fact)...regardless, people in that income bracket or anyone with even a miniscule sense of style will never go gor the fugly Lexus.  You can rave about a Toyota Corolla with it's near perfect reliabiliy, but I'd be more inspired to put four wheels on my bathtub and Fred Flinstone that mofo.

the F-sport version, when in all black, looks good imho

This car's biggest style faltering (i may as well emphasize the style element because vehicles like these are often sold on styling alone) is that unlike it's direct competition, there is a signifiant difference between the proportions of the vert' vs. the sedan version. I would have thought that Toyota/Lexus, with all that R&D at their disposal, would have found a much cleaner way to make the rear end work. Simply put...it's ugly as hell because it's gotta fit that roof and the bodywork around it is not cleanly integrated at all

Positively though, i really like the Lexus IS, and my one major complaint about the sedan version is addressed with this model: the non-existant headroom, even worse than the CTS

However, to echo some of the other commenters, with a price like that, my interest in this car fades pretty fast. My favorite Lex 2-door is still the original SC300/400
