Lady walking her dogs by my house 2 days ago when I was test-fitting the track tires:  "You know it's too early to put your summer tires on, don't you?".  Same lady last night, walking her dogs by my house while I was putting the winter tires back on, "I see I talked some sense in to you."  ::)

Invite her to track day!  ;D :D

:rofl2:

I'm glad the lady cares/knows enough about tires in all seriousness.

LOL.  I guess it's all in the way you look at it.  You guys made my day!

Here are a couple of pictures of a test fitting I did with the new track tires.  Sorry for the dirty car.  My neighbours think I'm some kind of wack job putting on summer tires when winter isn't over.  Trust me, the winter tires will be going back on tomorrow!

These pics are with H&R hub-centric 8mm spacers on all four corners.  Before I went out for a test drive, I checked front clearance at full lock and all was good.  My biggest concern was that by changing over to the H&R Sport springs with the Koni Sport adjustable struts at the front that there might be some rubbing as there was more room with the coilovers which I recently replaced.  All is good!  Because the offset of the Ronal 2-piece wheels is exactly right, and with the extra clearance provided by the spacers, it all fits perfectly.  My next concern was an aesthetic one.  I was worried that the tires might not be properly flush with the inside of the wheel wells and they turned out perfectly.  Again, I measured and researched carefully but when you are going up so many section widths in tire size (225 --> 255) such issues are always at the back of your mind.  The overall diameter of the 255/40/17 is exactly the same as the 225/45/17 OE fitment so I wasn't worried about that particular issue.  Also the 9" wide rims are the correct width for the tires so there's none of the dreaded muffin top look.

I then went on a 30 minute test loop with the car, trying a variety of bumpy roads, curves, etc., to make sure I was getting no rubbing.  The H&R Sport springs certainly help since they are progressive and really start limiting suspension travel after the initial deflection.  I left the Koni Sports at about half way between full and soft damping settings.  This test passed with flying colours.
The TT looks great, dirt and all! The rims and tires fill out the wheel wells. The springs aren'tt drastic drop. Awesome!

Thank you!.  Yup.  She's dirty.  But....I'm getting a through inside and outside detailing done tomorrow at Island Car Wash here in Hilton Head Island, SC.  I'm down here spending March Break with my wife.  My wife gets to go to the spa, why not the TT?  http://www.islandcarwash.com

Of course I'll probably be the only car detailed tomorrow which has the oh-so-stylin' winter rims and tires on it. ;)

Btw, 7.1 l/100 km overall fuel mileage on the way down here!  That factors in the 7.4 l/100 km on the 1st day.  It was pretty clear on the trip computer how much better mileage gets when:  a) the air temperature gets warmer and; b) you stop using winter gas.  I wasn't driving for fuel economy, either!

That is very number for mileage. Happy Spring Break. If you see a Swedish Bikini Team near by, take some pictures.

Nice!  How's the ride and handling with the new springs and shocks?

Unbelievable difference.  The car just soaks up bumps that it used to crash over, this at 1/2 way between full stiff and full soft on the adjustable shocks.  I'm hoping that at full stiff I won't give up anything on the track.  That's why I'm looking forward to the 26 April track night with 1morelap.ca on the east track at CMP.  I was hoping for a bit more of a drop, but I could always try the H&R Super Sports if I'm not totally happy.

Roads are really nice here in SC, btw.

Funny.  It looks like my car, and that's definitely Shannonville, but it doesn't look like my plate.  It's hard to tell even at 480p.

Cool, I know the guy who made this, he drives a supercharged RX-8 and has done trackdays with StLAC.  I also recognized Jud's Acadian, so that might very well be a StLAC track day and your TT.

There was guy at Shannonville with a small block Chevy Vette engine in his RX-8.  It was weird hearing that dee-troy-it muscle car burble coming out of that thing.

I have seen LS Swaps in FD RX7s as well.  Wildest swap I saw was in a Porsche 944.

Here is the TT after the H&R Sport springs have settled. Took about 3 weeks but I'm right around where it was before I switched out the coilovers.

LS into either RX-7 or RX-8 is wicked.

"Settled" does that mean the car actually drops down a little after the install? If so, how much?

Yeah, pretty much all new springs settle once weighted over a few weeks - manufacturers account for this.  The amount depends on the spring and the car.  I installed monstrously stiff front coils in my Camaro and they settled very little, other cars I've had it's been about 1/2-1", maybe a bit more.
