You are so full of :censor: that it is incredible, but I suppose it's the current entitled generation.I am so glad my teen daughters don't think like your generation does!
You don't spend what you don't have. Simple. Noto is a leech who leeches off everyone around him expecting more. Boohoo. He is a perfect example of why so many Canadians whine about bring broke. Boohoo. Suck it up baby. $30 000 engagement ring. Yeah I really feel empathy!!! I get it's considered "old fashioned" but until Canadians start paying their OWN way no one is going to feel sorry for us!
??? ??? ???
The :censor: did I do?

I don't even get how Hbjb concluded that Noto is a leech.
Me neither.

We're a young couple, both professionals.  We're not yet married, and therefore our finances aren't yet commingled (if they ever will be - it hasn't been discussed).  I would never, ever tell my wife (when I get one!) that she couldn't 'have' something as if I'm one to tell her how to spend her own money, but when it's my money or combined, lavish spending habits need to be curtailed to being within our own means.

I specified her upbringing as one where she has been treated to lavish things and I expressed a concern that at this rate she would LIKE to (but hasn't) spend more than we make combined after all expenses are deducted.  I then said that once she is no longer making an intern's salary, then she will be making near what I am and I will not care what she spends on.

I don't see in any way how I was a leech.  I don't peruse my parents' cars for my own good - I commute with my father each day.  On weekends I sometimes take the Corolla to visit my girlfriend, but often rent cars (not in the winter due to a decided lack of winter tires on rentals).  I pay for all maintenance of the Corolla.

I'm sorry if I've offended you, and I thank all those who have said kind words (even yours, GBA  :P), but I am a strong proponent of gender equality.  That my girlfriend has spent some money frivolously has nothing to do with her gender, nor did I at any point say that I was 'cutting her off' or anything of the sort.  I would hope that if I spent well beyond my means that someone would advise me to be better with my money.

If that makes me a leech, well...I don't know how to answer to that.

I'm impressed you so nicely responded to some rather nasty snark.

Taking parents' car isn't leeching if it's acceptable to them (I'm still going to bug you about it, it's source of entertainment :P)

Once she stops with the internships and residencies, she should make somewhere close to what I do.  I'm ok if she does.

You are so full of :censor: that it is incredible, but I suppose it's the current entitled generation.I am so glad my teen daughters don't think like your generation does!

I am lost. hahahahah

Anyways. This post needs to be archived for its out of the :censor: blue hilariousness.

Gotta say that I'm a little perplexed about where this is coming from.  Yeah, we all love to hate lawyers, but this is a little personal and direct.

I would delete this post.  As this is too personal.  Some families live together to their children get married, some leave the house at 18 by choice or not, some people buy their own car.  Point is, people are free to do what that they wish, who are we to judge.  And it has nothing to do with Canadians.  This issue is everywhere.

And to be somewhat on topic, because Future Shop used to sell TVs.  I find 52" perfect at 15' away with my Sharp Aquos.  And yes i did try different sizes.

Our 32" is more than large enough for us. Sits unobtrusively on a shelf and is not immediately noticeable in the room.

Do I detect a theme here.  Big engines, big trucks/suvs, big TVs....  I must have good vision I guess....  I have no problems reading subtitles as well.  So if you can read subtitles, can't be that small...

Income goes up so do expenses.   Funny thing money.

bingo.

my wife almost makes twice what I do.   Sadly, someone could pay her double and she'd only increase her expenses spending.   The concept of saving doesn't exist with her.

We are the exact opposite....if you gave me $5k I wouldnt for a second think about saving or investing it, either trip somewhere or some suspension, wheels and tires for the Mustang. My wife is the fiscally responsible one, Im the Imelda Marcos of the relationship :D

Wholly cow, do you have a garage full of Brake Shoes?  ;D

Yes dahling!!!!

Thanks.  Don't understand why people have TVs above fireplaces.  That is far too high.

FYI that's a 70-inch

During our basement development planning, I had a argument discussion with the wife many times regarding setting the TV over the fireplace with her being adamant that the TV must go above the fireplace .  I conceded eventually, after finding a fireplace that would allow the TV to be set at a height I can live with.
Quality is never an accident; it is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction, and skillful execution; it represents the wise choice of many alternatives.

The TV over the fireplace is such a ridiculous trend. It's only acceptable if you get a low fireplace (maybe one of those more modern long ones) but even then I'd avoid it if at all possible.

If I remember correctly THX specifies that the middle of the lower half of the screen should be at eye level for optimum viewing.
