Golf R .  2013 with warranty left can be had for tad over 23k.

VW refinement, more power, AWD...  what else could the guy want?
...I agree, but find me one either in Toronto or in Edmonton.

...and I'd think he'd rather near Edmonton (I'm not sure if he's flying to Toronto first).

I think the IS250 or 350 are both excellent choices that I've recommended to him.

it's strange, the price of MK6 Golf R may be kicking back up.
I saw a blue Golf R with 70k on it for $20k last week.  that's the one me and my buddy test drove.

there were 2 others for under 25k.

IS250 may not be so good.   heard it has engine issues.
I was looking at used prices of 2012/13 Golf R a few months ago on autotraded and it seemed all were around $30K+.  Maybe the price has come down due to these owner trading up to the new 2016 R coming out in a few months.  With only 750 total R's sold in canada for those two years I would think these would be holding their value really well.  If someone was selling for around $20K I'd question if it had been messed with or been in an accident.

Where did you find that R? I haven't seen a single one under $30k.

Our mutual buddy's family has had 4 G sedans, and every single one of them has been sold at about 4 years because of the number of issues that were popping up - the one looking for the car now won't touch Nissans.

Any ideas on the issues?  Just curious.  As I have done a bit of research on the G25, and it seems pretty solid.  I remember reading more alignment and tire replacements needed on the G37.  Not many reported issues with the engine, tranny, or electrical gremlins (as it's Japanese,  :D)   Not the smoothest stick thought...

I don't know the extent, but every time I got into that car, the dashboard was lit up like a Christmas tree.

it was traded in to a dealership.  (same dealership has it for sale for 34k)

Welcome to Alberta ;D
I asked him about trucks, to which he responded with:

"I drove a CBR600RR and a GLI.  You think I have any desire to drive something that big?"

So, now we know what bike he had ;D

I think having a bike and a truck like a Ford Raptor would be great!

I wonder how the OP's friend defines smallpenismobile. :)

If anyone else has an idea, please share. I've never had heard such a term.

This is a fair representation...or is this not what you wanted more details on?

Golf GTI or WRX. Both have their well known merits.

Thread revival.

He really likes the GTI (obviously), and has eliminated the WRX since no dealers have one for him to test drive.  Unfortunately, his nagging girlfriend (who is the pickiest eater, ever...who the f!ck doesn't eat tempura flakes in sushi?!) is adamant that he should not buy new and should only buy used.

...so they've 'compromised' and now he wants demo cars.  *sigh* the guy in Edmonton offered him a 2015 GTI Demo, "loaded, except leather and navi" ( :stfu: ), MSRP less $1,000 dealer discount and $750 recent grad rebate - comes to just under $42k with taxes and a 96 month warranty for $3,400.  Also included there is a set of winter rims and tires for $2,200 (a bit pricey, too, I think).  I rolled my eyes.  My buddy said he'd do $40k all-in (on the road) for it.  Reasonable?  Has 6,500km on the odometer.

I'm wondering if an ILX, or a (used) A3 hatch is perhaps a better buy?

Folks in Edmonton - chime in.
