Jeep Renegade Available in 4x4 with 6 speed manual
« on: January 22, 2015, 06:40:25 pm »
Just read this....thought some might be interested.

"Although driving impressions for the Jeep Renegade are still embargoed, pricing has leaked on a third party site, and we can confirm that a 4×4 model with a  6-speed manual will be available – but not on the top trim Trailhawk version.

The 1.4T Multiair 4-cylinder turbo engine will be available with a 6-speed manual exclusively, while the 2.4L Tigershark I4 will come with 9-speed ZF automatic. Both configurations can be had in either FWD or AWD, while the TrailHawk gets an uprated AWD with 20:1 crawl ratio, five different modes and a low range mode in first gear, similar to the Cherokee Trailhawk.

Per the Jeep Renegade Forum:

    Sport: $17,995
    Latitude: $21,295
    Limited: $24,795
    Trailhawk: $25,995

    4×4 adds $2,000

Our review will go live tomorrow."

Stupid the manual won't be on the Trailhawk, which is supposed to be the most offroad capable version?

I like it. It looks quirky but I like what I see so far, in pictures.

It sounds like the 4x4 is more potent than just a slip 'n' grip.
I love the colour (FJ after-effects) and it seems just as noisy, which is regrettable.

Give a man a fish, he eats for a day. Teach the man to fish and he wakes you up at 5 in the morning.

I can see it from that perspective...a manual transmission isn't always the greatest in off road..especially when very slowly trying to crawl over things...trying not to roll back, etc,

It does have a proper Jeep grill and round headlights at least.

Don't forget...it will have the cute "Trail Rated" decals too!

Cooking a clutch off road is always a risk. Maybe not the worse choice to offer it with auto only.
On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.

My old 88 Honda Civic RT4WD had a SL (super low) gear for those situations up to 8km/h. Progress...

It's not so much the forward part....it's when you're in a precarious position where you have to move carefully and when you transition from brake to gas...you roll backwards....

Agreed on both points. Trailhawk definitely looks the best but no manual is disappointing.

I like it. Unique looking without being weird. Much better than the Compass + Patriot.

I think even fans of the Renegade will admit it looks weird.  :)

As I said elsewhere, a damn site better than the Cube or Juke. And I don't hate either of those, but this beats them. The MINI Countryman is the only other real contender in my book - I've driven one a bit and it really won me over - but it's on a whole other level price-wise.
