I like the performance this 370Z offers and the price is right.  That interior would do it in for me.  I've learned that I prefer a bit of luxury with my performance so I couldn't look past that interior.

So, you want a G37.

Have you been in a Z car.....its so tiny you would never need a backup cam.

I have a $80k sports car with no backup camera. Three mirrors are more than enough to back in and parallel park.

Lol, this guy has his priorities straight

I could live without a backup camera where I live.  But if you are downtown Toronto, and parallel park quite often, it's something to consider.  After market I guess.  I don't think Nissan is being cheap by not offering it.  Its a ton of car for $30k.

There are much smaller cars than the 370z that have a backup camera.  And they have better visibility too...

My passenger side mirror tilts down and back when I engage reverse gear and the car has rear distance sensors...that is plenty for me.

Remember when people drove RWD vehicles with no air bags, no ABS, no stability control, no traction control, no crumple zones, no blind spot monitoring, no lane departure warning, no.......  :P

I swear these cameras and gadgets make people bad at driving. Yes, they are very helpful, but they should not be RELIED on.

My friend has an Elantra Limited with the back up camera. She managed to scrape the driver and rear doors on a garage parking lot pillar....BECAUSE she was staring at her camera.  ::) ::)

Backup camera? You mean, people actually *require* these things now?

For what it's worth, I live downtown, parallel park on a regular basis, and also own a car with none of the above (or even power steering...)...

I'm always nervous that I'm going to end up doing something stupid like that while I'm using the backup camera.

I suppose the newer "surround view" systems could potentially solve that problem.

I am not one in favour of gadgets, hence the base models I own.  I don't even want power sliding doors.  And most cars don't have backup sensors, or a mirror that tilts down.  And the sightlines on a Miata are a lot better than the Nissan 370z.  Would it be a deal breaker for me?  Hell No! Would I think it's weird if somebody added it?  No...

PS the Honda fit comes with a camera now.   They really are useful, I love having them in tight spots.

for a couple thousand you can install a backup camera and infotainment system if you must have it. Sounds like backup cameras are the new navi...3 years ago it was "WHAT???? NO NAVI???!?!?! BS!!!!"

That's a steal for that car and pretty tempting to look at for a summer ride.

Backs will be required by 2018 in USA apparently.

Just one more headache when "safetying" a used car.

The Genesis Coupe would be easy to teach on, I think. The clutch is a light switch in the V6, so it's blatantly obvious to even new drivers where the grab point is. That said, I'm not volunteering my demo  :rofl2:

If you can find a car, great. Otherwise I'll let you know the next time we have something lying around with three pedals.

I'm not exactly a 'newbie' - I just need more seat time and 1st gear play.  I took out the Fiesta 1.0T in the snowmaggedon that was the subcompact comparo without issue and I didn't stall at all on the open roads.

...but yeah, finding the car is harder than finding the instructor :(
