I switched from all sorts of anti-persperants to just the standard olde spice deodorant years ago and never went back. Never sweat, no aluminium (bob), money.

Anyone tried the mineral/crystal stuff? Rather than aluminium based?

I've heard they work well, I've been tempted...

Tried them years back (20?) and found that they control of odor but not wetness and staining.

Fack...I can't find  my usual Mennen Speed Stick Active Fresh and have tried other brands but I still smell like a French 'ore house  >:( Is there anything out there that has a neutral and non offending sent?

Deodorant or anti-perspirant? I use the Active Fresh deodorant and have no trouble finding it here. Just bought a few on sale the other day. Maybe keep looking or just buy a case on the Internet.

I won't do  anti-perspirant... so deodorant it is.

I change brands a lot because for whatever reason, after a while it stops working on me or I get rashes.

right now Dove has worked very well.

I had long success with a natural deodorant from Tom's for a while.
after a year or so, it seemed to magically stop working.

Seriously, the olde spice plain deodorant is so good. Please report back with how it works for you.

I picked some up on your recommendation. It has worked splendidly. I had used it years back, not sure why I switched, probably something was on sale the next time

All Natural, Organic Toiletries
« Reply #210 on: February 11, 2015, 06:07:43 pm »
I'm pretty big on all natural, organic toiletries.  I work in a toolshop, so I get enough chemical/smoke/oil/metal exposure during my day.  I don't need to add additional chemicals to my body for something as simple as toiletries.  So I use all natural stuff.  Here's 4 recent deodorant purchases (plus a bonus toothpaste).  These are all natural, organic.  The smell is quite mild after the initial application/when it dries.  They last all day working in a toolshop, so I'm sure they'd work fine in an office setting.  Plus the scent is mild.  If you are a heavy sweater or do extremely vigorous physical activity, you might need a re-application.  But I think for most people, these would work well.

1) Aubrey's Men's Stock spray.  I didn't like the scent.  It reminded of a mild "English Leather" scent.  It wasn't for me...I gave it away to an older gentleman at work.  He loves the smell.  https://well.ca/products/aubrey-mens-stock-natural-dry_8811.html

2) Weleda Sage spray.  This is a standby.  I ALWAYS have at least 1 Weleda in my rotation...and frequently have them all.  They are quality, they smell nice (ie very fresh smelling) and they last.  If you are hardcore into recycling, these come in a glass bottle.  Highly recommended.  https://well.ca/products/aubrey-mens-stock-natural-dry_8811.html

3) EO Organic Vetivier spray.  Almost as nice as the Weleda.  More subdued.  Nice scent with a very fair price.  Will buy again.  https://well.ca/products/eo-organic-deodorant-spray_79753.html

4) Druide Roll On.  This was a very pleasant surprise.  It's a roll on.  One of my former favorites that's no longer made was a roll on (Umbrian Clay).  A nice bonus is it's made in Canada. 99% natural ingredients.  If you have sensitive pits, the Witch Hazel is a nice addition. Fair price.  Scent is subtle, but lasts all day.  The only draw back is a takes a couple minutes to dry.  So having to wait 1-2 minutes before putting a shirt on might be a drawback for some.  Will buy again.  https://well.ca/products/druide-roll-on-deodorant_21065.html

I also tried another all natural fluoride free toothpaste.  This one is made with clay.  Surprisingly, it's very minty and fresh clean tasting.  It takes some getting used to because it doesn't foam like crazy like traditional toothpastes do.  Works well.  But again...because of the non foaming it takes getting used to.  Also the color might be off putting to some.  It's brown.  Dirt brown.  Looks odd on your toothbrush.  Not sure if I'll buy again, since I'm still trying many other natural toothpastes.  But so far, this is the best one I've tried. https://well.ca/products/redmond-earthpaste-amazingly-natural_60996.html

Am I the only one who has a big interest in all natural toiletries?  Anybody else?
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

You need deodorant without aluminum salts (aluminum chloride, aluminum chlorohydrate , aluminum-zirconium, etc)...that's the culprit.  If you see aluminum in the ingredient list, skip it.

Try the classic Old spice. No aluminum.

thanks for the list.  I'm going to keep an eye out for some of those.
as mentioned I've had a lot of success with Tom's of Maine products.   However deodorant is something I'm always changing.  Not sure why but my body seems to get used to a certain kind and it starts to not work as well.

I've also used their toothpaste:
https://well.ca/products/toms-of-maine-clean-fresh_10632.html
I can't remember which kind it actually was, but it was very good.   So good, eventually our dentist asked what we had been using.

For soaps, we're usually buying from a local handmade shop.
natural shampoo is one thing I've never found to work for me.  For whatever reason I'm always fighting dandruff.   Sadly Head & Shoulders seems to be the only thing that works.

friends of ours have recently found this company and my wife is now all over it.
it's insanely expensive and that always makes me wonder how much of the cost is just trendy marketing.

Hmmmm,  pub shed. Great place to escape the house for quiet time and a cigar.
