I doubt there are many sports sedans costing over $30k today which won't do 0 - 100km/hr in under 7.2 seconds but back in the '70s that was fast.

A co-worker took a standard transmission model out for a test drive and decided to see what it would do from a stop light.  He said he accelerated up and over a bridge and was amazed as it was the fastest thing he had ever driven.

However at his moment of triumph, the air went out of his balloon a bit when the salesman who was in the passenger seat turned and said to him "You've got it in third gear you idiot!".

I guess it had quite a bit of torque as well.

Cheers,
John M.

The old Shelby gave us the legend, the new Shelby delivers the goods.

One of my favourite classic cars.  Not sure which one I would want more, a 68 Shelby GT500 or a 69 Boss 429.

While I fully respect the old Shelbys, the new one is going to be one hell of a performance bargain. Also, just going by barret-jackson prices, the new one will be infinetly more affordable than an original.....but there is something to be said about the sound of a 428ci at WOT!!!
Lighten up Francis.....
