Someone on Jalopnik posted a set of pics from Katrina, but the Mississippi damages...just wow. http://imgur.com/a/69BbY#109 All we ever heard about was New Awleens...I mean even our own Magic Mike only went to NO to make it right, right?  Gotta wonder how much of that is gone and cleaned up, and/or rebuilt by now. If ever again.

What boggles my mind is that a country such as the US doesn't have the ability to recover/rebuild from this.  Whether it's the political will, or whatever, they seemed completely unable to do anything at the time, or in the 10 years since.  Huge areas still devastated with no solution in sight.
But should they rebuild in the area, I believe it is on the flood plain , if it the flood happen once it can happen again

Apparently, the dishes at work aren't microwave safe. boom.

On the plus side, it smells really bad in here.  :P

Reminds me of the time a girl at the office decided to microwave an egg.  In the shell.  In a bowl of water.

The explosion was so strong that it blew the microwave door open and splattered egg and boiling water all over a 10-foot radius.  This microwave was on a shelf at eye level; luckily, nobody was near it when it blew up.   :shake:  "But I read on the internet that you could boil an egg that way," said the 20-something moron.

I remember a TV interview, years back now, that pointed out the the areas that were never going to get much help were poor and black...I forget who said it but I do remember the tone of voice that...that was just the way politics worked down there.

The former Lady O did the same. I got home just in time for the aftermath. It was messy.

I remember coming home from school when I was a kid just after the lid of the pressure cooker blew off when my grandmother was cooking beef tongue.   What a frikkin mess ...and the stench.  :hurl:  I was happy cuz I hated tongue anyway.  :)

I wish I could find the Late Show clip where Letterman puts a bowl of GE bulbs in a microwave.  It looked rather festive.

If you expect that you will be warm and sweating you should remember to pack some electrolytes in pill form. You should purchase electrolytes in citrate form - potassium, calcium citrates. Chips make a good substitute when bonking along with regular Coke.

A thermos is your friend. Fill is with soup, stew, chili, mac & cheese, etc. and some fresh baked bread.

Premake BLTs or other great sandwiches.

Just off the top of my head.
