I was at a T/T night a long time ago and this radiologist showed up with a very stock looking/sounding 911 that ran a mid 10 pass, drama and noise free.  He seemed to honestly have no clue as to what it would run.  It was hilarious as the car he ran against made all this noise and the 911 just whipped down the track as fast any liter bike was running.  Through a street exhaust.

He was pretty sad they wouldn't let him run any more.

I went to the paddock and his car had a full-on RUF turbo driveline.  That's how I found out his profession.  "What do you do that you can afford this machine?"

Not long after that i joined the PCA and started attending events and hoped to run into him.  Never saw him again.

Hmmm...I'd like to know more.  Even the fastest RUF 911s never ran better than mid 11s..
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

My first ever experience seeing a Mercedes-AMG G-wagon was at a "Whoop-Arse Wednesday" police-organized wednesday-night amateur drags in Perth, Western Australia.
The dude fronted up, everyone laughed - then he blew the doors off a Holden HSV Commodore (I think it was a Clubsport, can't remember properly) in the mid 2000s. It was epic.

Yea!!  This is very popular in the US.  It's called "Beat The Heat".  Police show up with a car and take on people (usually including a car the local high school kids have built for this purpose) with their cars in an effort to keep racing off the streets.

I worked on that very same door line back in the early 90's!! Fastest line in the plant apparently, a door every 35secs.

Whoops! I've added "Western Australia" to make sure I don't confuse people. Hope that helps.

Very entertaining read Jacob.

The Hellcat is going to 750hp? Jesus. Is anyone else boggled by numbers like this? I can remember when the 5.0 Mustang and IROC Camaro crept over the 200hp level.

I know. People are so jaded these days. I have to shake my head when I see something like a 2.0T Audi A4 describe as "slow" despite the fact that it goes 0-60 in ~6 seconds.

That's my feeling too. Cars are universally so much better than not that long ago.

Back in my day, when they made proper cars, a 454ci V8 made 220HP and vehicles handled like a drunken giraffe!!  ;D

Dad's 1976 Pontiac LeMans Safari wagon had the 400 in it:

Engine Type : V8 6555 cc | 400.0 cu in. | 6.6 L.
185 HP (136.16 KW) @ 3600 RPM
310 Ft-Lbs (420 NM) @ 1600 RPM

^^ It probably felt quite fast because of all that torque.  Unfortunately, I'm guessing that seat of the pants feel didn't actually translate to much real forward momentum.

Peak HP at 3600rpm.  Lol, modern diesels do better than that!

Will there be a 750HP 300C with AWD? That would be something.

It didn't feel that slow, but I was pretty young. IIRC with the trailer tow package it had something like a 3.23 rear end in it instead of the 2.73. The downside was 18-20 Imp mpg on the highway at best.

That thing had rust holes through the door skins only a couple of years after he bought it. He hung on to it until 1982, by which time it was pretty much compost.

750hp and AWD would be a missile! The Hellcats don't have nearly enough traction to put the power down, unless big slicks are swapped on.

I don't think Chrysler has any plans to go down that road.

While the Hellcat could sure use AWD, I'm not sure if it would kill the character of the car.  I mean, the GT-R is one hulluva rowdy ride even with AWD, but the car was designed from the start to be a missile with everything made to make it fast and then some sheetmetal stretched around that.  The big Dodge has it's retro mission.

Maybe factory tubs and ladder bars?   ;D

See. Cars were MORE environmental  back then. Modern ones don't biodegrade nearly as well.
