Agreed.  While I do commend Toyota for improving the ride quality and interior, they are carrying over a lot.  5 speed auto in this day and age?  Give me a break.

it seems Toyota's quest for loosing the bland styling and boring image is getting the best of them.
they're going off the deep end to stick out!

sadly this may be a hint of the next Tacoma too.

Love the drivetrain, love the fact its got a proper transfer case, love the frame.....that front end is....wow...just....wow  . I loved the old 4Runner, indestructible 4 cylinder motor, bulletproof drivetrain, high levels of aftermarket support, looked great, really Toyota, why did you have to ruin it??

That new 4Runner has none of that appeal.

Not sure why Toyota wanted to graft the front end of a Veloster onto their 4runner.  That  face is hideous.

The truck is hideous, but on the plus side the mangled front end will provide a great approach angle! Better for heading off-road so you can find a tree to smash into and make it look better.

I pretty much agree with all comments here. Don't care for the overwrought front clip but would still buy a 4Runner if it met my needs.

As an aside these mid-cycle refreshes are way over-hyped. Usually the front and rear end updates don't look as good as the original efforts (see above and the new E Class). Sometimes there are notable improvements but more and more often manufacturers are overstating the significance of the refresh.
