Who even pays attention to Mitsubishi anymore.  All their products are so old and dated.  Can't say I'd recommend a single model to anyone looking.  Sure bring this over, hell it can't hurt.

This seems to be the one model they've gotten right over the years.

And, for clarification, the image in the article was sent out by Mitsubishi Motors North America (basically the US), not the Canadian subsidiary. I doubt they'll bring the Montero back to Canada. Because, ya know, who would want a full size SUV when gas prices are so low?!?!

Mitsubishi's playbook

Combine classic and romantic reasoning. Figure out the cars that sell based on perceived need and other's on lustful want. Make a list of all of these cars.

...then build the exact opposite.

Mitsu was in the same place as Subaru a while ago - finding their identity.  Having one as a car maker can lead to success.  Subaru found their mojo in AWD and the "Utility Wagon" concept then into CUVs and lots of hatches, etc.  They gave a a range of cars, but not too broad, and included some badass stuff like the STi, etc.  Then they hired some REALLY GOOD marketing people.

Mitsu lost their way, wandered around, and didn't build a cohesive product line based on a corporate identity.  Marketing?  What?  Someone at Mitsu thought "that's a waste of money!"

In the end, it didn't matter really whether the cars were any good or not, no one knew to even look.

I remember the first time I met Railton +10 years ago. I was driving down from Sudbury and we were trying to figure out a place to meet and he suggested the Mitsu dealer parking lot at the Automall in Mississauga because nobody would be there  :rofl2:

Somehow, I've seen a lot of Lancers lately. Still a lot of previous gen Outlanders too. The new Outlander and Mirage are mostly MIA.

The Lancer and Outlanders were popular with rental car agencies. Why? Because they were dirt cheap and they had the appearance of a Japanese import.

I liked the older Montero. Mitsubishi cars were desirable once upon  a time when they made cars like this:

Burn it with fire. That's one truck that makes me think "the Chicken Tax is at least good for something..."
