Hope I don't jinx it but since I've been riding here its been amazing for the lack of cars/trucks and courtesy of those that do pass me. Some people even drive slowly past me and wave.

Bonus is the times that I do have to go on a 'busy' road it is only for a short distance and most busy roads around here have bike-able shoulders...some are even 3 feet wide in places.

This is the best place I've ridden in Ontario.

Heading out for my first long MTB ride of the year tomorrow and the weather looks incredible. What won't be incredible is how out of shape I am, but you have to start somewhere.

Surprisingly, had a really nice ride today. Have a horrible cold and I feel like sh!t, but actually felt pretty strong on the bike. And a little early in the season yet, but still managed to put together a nice little single track loop that was 99% dry.

Got out for the first time of the year today!

First observation: holy hell am I ever out of shape. I've never started my season at Glen Major before, and all the hills really wiped me out. By the end I was hiking sections because I could barely stand on the bike. Trail conditions were good overall, but still lots of leaves on the ground hiding the odd mud trap. Pain aside, it was all worth it for the first few good descents.

I was also really impressed with my new 1x10 setup, especially since I spent $160 instead of the $1,000+ it would cost for a complete new drivetrain and hubs. The front chain ring is now a RaceFace 32T and the rear cassette is customized running a OneUp 40T granny gear, with a 16T replacing the 17T in the high end to even out the gear spacing. Total ratio is 11T-40T.

On the way there and back I got a ton of odd looks, especially on the dirt road to the trail head. I guess my transport is a little unorthodox.

Hope everyone had a good day riding despite the wind!

I haven't properly opened the cycling season yet, but today I went to test ride Felt bikes, so I got something like 5 km under my belt  :P Anyway, I rode the top of the line model in Felt's Z range, the Z2 Disc. Full carbon (of course), Ultegra Di2 and hydraulic brakes, weight somewhere in the low 7's. First impression was how light the bike was. The next thing I noticed was the Di2 shifters, I could definitely get used to the effortless shifting that they provide. And then there's the acceleration, definitely much more springy than my own Felt F75. Also tried two different sizes, 54 and 56, and concluded that the smaller frame has a better reach for me. The only downside is the pricing, at $6,000 USD it's a bit steep for my pockets. Very nice bike, though.

Woot! Holy hell that was hard. Need to get in shape.

Yep. I imagine it has something to do with its still faster or some 100 year old rule. I think their faces say it all.

Tried to sneak in a quick ride but ended up getting caught in a downpour. Strong winds + rain + freezing rain + ice pellets = one cold cyclist.
