On the way home today after having lunch with CanuckS2K and Sailor723 I spotted at an intersection what I think was a Cobalt SS with some sort of exhaust snorkel stack coming out of the rear and protruding up and over the roofline.  The entire assembly was black with a support bracket at about the half way point and looked like ABS pipe.  I can't imagine the purpose of a snorkel exhaust on a low slung car and it may qualify as one of the dumbest looking and pointless mods I've ever seen.  :-\ :P

After dropping off Snowman's Christmas present today I found one if these in the parking lot of the mall. I dint know they were out yet.

At lunch today I saw a new Mercedes C Class sedan and a previous generation model parked nose-to-tail. Both were black so it set up a good visual comparison. The new one didn't seem larger, even if it is. It's definitely more modern and curvaceous but sadly, it didn't look as good as I had hoped it would. It struck me as more of a juiced up CLA rather than a mini S Class. This was the first new C that I've seen and I was kind of underwhelmed. It wasn't ugly but I wasn't blown away either. It was a grey day in Winnipeg and both had a lot of road grime...so I'll reassess the next time I see one but my boat hasn't been floated.  :-\

You know, I've noticed a huge difference between the base-ish new C-Class' and the loaded ones. The loaded C400s with the AMG styling kit and the big wheels look slick - they look like baby S-Class'. But you're right; the "peasant" models look like tarted up CLAs... I'm undecided right now.

Then again, when the previous-gen W204 C-Class came out in '08, I was pretty conflicted with the looks at first too.

Last night I saw a circa 2008/09 Jaguar XJR that was completely blacked out including the leaping jaguar hood ornament. It was low, sleek and fabulous. I'm reminded that Jaguar has forgotten what a Jaguar sedan is supposed to look like.

It looked like this 'cept for total blackness.

I know what you mean NR.  Saw a current gen XJ at the local gas station yesterday.  It looked awkward.

You tellin' me the new XJ ain't long, low and sleek?  Admittedly, I still don't get that weird black thing on the back pillar, but otherwise, these things have really grown on me and have great presence.

It does look long, too long.  Proportions don't look right to me.  And ya, that black c pillar.

It's not the proportions...visually it's an entirely forgettable car. Which wouldn't be so bad except that they used to make beautiful sedans.
