I'll be interested to get your take on the auto stop/start feature. I drove an X3 with this last fall and found it  well done and barely noticeable. I was actually quite pleasantly surprised after what I had read.

Conversely the same feature on the MB B250 I was in yesterday as a service loaner was quite rough and intrusive.......very noticeable.  I guess all of these systems aren't created equal.

If I get closer to buying a B250 I'll certainly be trying to find out how to turn that off permanently.

The auto stop/start function in our 328i has basically been AWOL since winter started. I kind of miss it!

When I test drove the 320i with this feature, I barely noticed the stop/start transition, and when I mentioned it to the sales guy, he assured me it can be tuned out (not sure how but he said they could do it)

Auto stop is Missing in action.  I guess +2 is to cold for it to operate.

So that feature won't be of much use for a large chuck of the year in Canada...
Probably for the best, I don't particularly want the engine shutting down at a red light when it's below freezing.

So $53k gets you a loaded 328 x Drive, or a 'base' 335.  Hmmmmmm...........   :skid:

I still like this car...seems like there is nothing new to say or write about it. But I like it.

Agree with the looks...back is good but the front could use a makeover...kinda like this wom...anyhow, I do a large chunk of highway driving so the auto stop/start is of negligible use for saving gas. Also, as mentioned in one of the comments, waiting at a light in subzero temperatures with the engine off doesn't seem like something I'd like to do in a luxury car.

Why not?  It's not like the engine and coolant temp is going to go from 80 to nothing in seconds.  The heater still runs, the wipers still function and everything keeps on going... except gas into the engine.

I don't get the hatred for these systems, when I wish they existed on every car.

Like I just noted in another thread, the new MB B250 has it too. It is noticeable but not objectionable, and I'd rather have that option than not.

As long as one can turn it off without having to reset it every time you start up the car. It wouldn't be a deal breaker for me. I just prefer not to have it. Anybody know the fuel savings? Is it significant?

I don't think it's significant by itself. It's just one of the many things automakers are doing these days that add up to significantly better fuel economy.
