I know, that is the first thing I noticed too when totaling up the prices.

Damn, I love that Porsche.  And the Jag has such sexy lines.  Across the board I find Mercedes designs aesthetically unappealing - and this one is no exception.  Not ugly, just not particularly special in any way.  At these price points, I would want to be grinning from ear to ear just looking at the car - perhaps even drooling slightly.  For the Merc, I've got nothing but "meh".

Meh for the Merc?  No way, these are all lookers in my view.

By far, the Merc is the best looking of the bunch. But that's my personal opinion, of course. I'd take the Merc.

The Merc is a good looking car, but not really exciting in any way, they do have an AMG model and that the one to have. Out of this exclusive group as tested, Porsche for me, Jags have always been good looking cars but they have never really captured me(<------this statement does not apply to Jags made before 1975)

It would be the 911 for me.  I'd probably drop some of the more luxury oriented options, and go for the performance options.  With the manual, please!  I'm a sucker for sound of the flat 6.   :drive:

They are all gorgeous. I'm drawn to the Jag.

I've never liked the 911 Cabriolet. Seems to me a crying shame to lop the perfect roofline off a 911 and replace it with that ugly hump.

Logic says to go with the Merc but that Jag is gorgeous and it is supposed to be as a "toy" rather than a daily driver. ;D
Old Jag convertible...one itch I won't have to scratch again.

Tough choice for sure,  but if I could only take one set of keys it would be the Porsche

Shame about the cabin being a letdown in the Jag as that's where I'd think it would excel (besides the music out the back pipe, but all three are awesome here)
Sure didn't expect to read this sentence about the Jag: ..."was nowhere near as supple as the Benz"... sure would have thought that would read the other way around.

As for the Benz, I still can't find any love for that front-end/grille... but the rest is dead sexy.  Would have to reserve final judgement until all three were seen in the flesh... i'll await that call next time... ;D

So,yes i'd pick the 911,  partly because i'm drawn to that brown.... a couple years ago at Toronto auto show there was a brown Audi R8 I fell in love with & had my drool all over it.  I really love that shade.

911 coupe for me.  No convertibles, no ugly humps.

I'd take the SL in the GT contest and the 911 as the sports choice...but I'd make mine the S4 with a hard roof.

My thoughts exactly on the Merc.  Not ugly, but is nothing special.  It's a mere "meh" to me as well and doesn't wow me in any way.  If the XKR was the drop top version I would take it first.  Otherwise, the Porsche would be first for me.

^X2, resale value shows it too.  I bet half of them are automatics weighed down by the gold-chain crowd.

i'm with the meh merc crowd.

i'd like the jag... but with an upgraded interior... since thats not possible, i'll take the porsche.

although, that paint for 3590 better look damn amazing. if you don't take that, does it come primed? because for that money, i'll take it to a paint shop and pick whatever custom colour i want!

It's a fair bit more than the $150k price in the article, but too bad the Vantage Roadster wasn't available to be included in this comparo.  Man I love this car!!

The SL looks like it was made to be a convertible.  The 911 just never has.  It's looked awkward in every version of the cabrio.

As much as I love open air motoring, I agree that the 911 coupe is the way to go.

Isn't the 911 more of a true sports car than a GT?  It would be fun to re-run this with the Merc, the Jag, an Aston, and the Maserati GranTurismo...
I'd rather be car-poor than house-poor...
