I wish it was Made in China!
« on: December 21, 2014, 05:02:45 pm »
Last week, I purchased a SodaStream in preparation for all the mixed drinks that would be consumed over the holidays.  I received the item yesterday.  And I have to say...I can't recall the last time (ever?) I've purchased an item with such terribly quality and manufacturing flaws.  The $1 toys made in China you find at convenience stores are of higher quality.  I sure wish this thing was made in China, as quality would be infinitely better.

It was made in Israel.  If this is an indication of the quality of manufacturing done in Israel...I will do everything in my power to avoid purchasing anything from that manufacturing dumpster fire again.  There was flash on the plastic, the covers didn't fit, mismatch and one of the side tabs doesn't line up with the cover in the least.  Seriously...I've never seen a more POS manufacturing job.  Someone might say "You just got a bad unit".  I'd ask WTF their Quality Control was doing that day to let this thing out of the factory.  This is worse than Third World manufacturing.

Have a look at a couple of the pics:

Give a man a fish, he eats for a day. Teach the man to fish and he wakes you up at 5 in the morning.

I had the the same feeling about a water heater I bought a couple of years ago. It had more than one of its seals installed incorrectly and made a terrible mess when filled with water. It was lucky that I have an unfinished basement I found out about it after returning from work the next day.

I wrote a letter to the manufacture, a local Quebec one, complaining. I was surprised to get a call from them a couple of days after mailing it - they were that close! What did the girl say: "Sorry about that. We assemble 1200 a day,  so it's likely to happen at some point." Gee, Thanks! ::)

I bought my wife one for her bday last year. Different model. No such problems with hers. I will say this about it though. I bought her a bunch of different flavors for it. All she uses it for is to carbonate water, which she drinks all the time.

Sodastream was built a new plant in Israel , drove by it in October  ;D

It was made in Israel.  If this is an indication of the quality of manufacturing done in Israel...I will do everything in my power to avoid purchasing anything from that manufacturing dumpster fire again.

I tend to avoid buying anything from Israel anyway.

They make outside storage containers for garbage bins and other stuff in Israel also. They snap together and work ok but the top hinges need modifying because the top can blow off in a strong wind. I modified mine with strips of metal and a few screws and it seems to work but since I bought 2...a couple of years apart... you would have thought that design mods would have been made...no. Otherwise great durable safe bins but rather expensive.

Why would they spend money modifying the design, you keep buying them anyway.
