Leaning towards Camry hybrid. Any concerns buying a used hybrid?

Not a Toyota, all the cabs in town are switching to either Priusesses(Priusi??) or the Camry Hybrid, that right there is the best recommendation for me that they are reliable and cheap to run.
Lighten up Francis.....

Like the passat. Again under $15000 might be a stretch
Something tells me you can get under $15k in the large sedan class...
Check out the Ford Taurus:

Toyota Avalon...go a step up to get the space you need.
Seriously, Tauri, shouldn't you be on the "Buy a Taurus!" bandwagon?!?!?!  ;D

The Taurus is a big car, but the centre console will be trouble for him...it was designed for normal sized people 5'10 - 6.

Forget the Versa and Fit. At 270 theyre too small.

I'd say go with a Dodge Charger, Mazda6 or a Golf/Jetta/Passat.
I think the VW route will be best.  Passat or Jetta would both work well.

Add the Altima to my list above.
Also a really good choice - tons of space inside.

Hell, even a Sonata/Optima would work.

Several of my pals are big, free-range, grain-fed prairie boys in the 6-3 to 6-6 foot tall range that I've had to drive around over the years and I note that they have to fuss to find cars that they actually fit in. In general, mid-sized Japanese sedans with a sunroof could be a challenge while VW seats seem to lower and move rearward adequately for the overgrown...at least that's what they tell me.

I think fit is your number 1 concern.

I 2nd the Altima.  Get one without the sunroof and there's plenty of headroom.  The driver's seat goes real real low.

Hadn't looked too much into the Altima. Cheap. Could get a '13 for around $15k. Why so little?  Reliability?  Mileage seems awesome too.

They're generally regarded as reliable cars.  Maybe not Honda Accord reliable, but they're about average.  Make sure you can live with a CVT, as they're not for everybody, but that's where the Altima derives its efficiency from.  The resale is relatively low because Nissan doesn't carry the same brand 'cachet' the Honda and Toyota do.  But the cars are certainly not horrible.  That being said, there still isn't much love for them on this forum, maybe because they're viewed as appliances...

Sat in a 2013 today. Got the room I think. Lots of base models available in ottawa for 15k-17k.  CPO possibly as well.
Thanks for all you help!

Might open another thread on this but anyone here familiar with Routes car rentals?  They have some they're selling, but it strikes me a bit as fly-by-night.

DO NOT BUY AN EX-RENTAL CAR.

People don't treat them well.

I've heard 2 schools of thought in that. Yes, drivers may not be as careful, but they're almost guaranteed to be strictly maintained.  I'm always paranoid of being dinged with extra charges when I've rented and have been xtra careful. Not sure there's too much street racing going on with a base Altima.

Definitely a consideration though.

They're driven like nobody cares about them, often by drivers who were recently in accidents, and I can assure you that they are not 'strictly' maintained - I ALWAYS got cars with "maintenance required" reminders on the dash.

I don't have the picture with me, but I burried the needle in a 1992 Suburban in Quebec once.  No idea how fast I was going - the speedo topped out at 140km/h.
