Does anyone know why only the 6.2L has this new tranny?  Limited initial availability or it is a marketing move?

BTW, I'm looking at that Eaton 18speed diagram and .... I'm not getting it though if I had a chance to try it hands on, maybe.

I recall the 6 speed when it made a debut first showed on Escalade, then on the bigger GMC/ Chevy V8s, and later on the rest of the lineup. Just a matter of ramping up production and fixing bugs, which is easier when fewer are released in the wild.
I was too cautious with multi gear trannies, but from experience they are just better to drive in terms of acceleration and always being in the right gear and torque curve spot.
