Congrats. They are a great little SUV. Friend of ours has one in white and I love the thing, comfy, quiet, looks good, love the interior and the Pentastar has decent pickup.

little?  It's not a Jeep Compass.  Compared to a Suburban its smaller I guess.  But any SUV that has a V8 option, and weighs over 4700lbs, isn't exactly small...

But we all know you... Canyonero is on your wish list...  :rofl2:

To me this would be the smallest I would go in an SUV before wagons start to look like a better idea. Seats 5, bit of cargo room, nothing wrong with it. To me, if you go below this, wagons like the XV, Forester and Outback really start to make sense.
Lighten up Francis.....

It's a handsome rig.  Congrats to your wife (and you too).  ;D

My Escape has side steps.  My 3 & 8 year old sons find it easier to get in thanks to these steps.  My wife & I, however find them to be a nuisance that one has to step around.  This is even more of a problem when the steps are covered in slush/salt/mud (i.e. dirty pant legs). Once the kids are tall enough to get in & out with out the steps I will remove them.
You think the Escape will last that long  :stick:

Do you mean because its 10 years old?  Or because it's an Escape?  Escapes are pretty reliable...

 :rofl2:

Relatively reliable.  Somewhat prone to rust.....at least my 2005.

We got to experience the Jeep G.C. in the snow recently and find that the 265 60 18 just don't cut it. Having a large foot print effectively acts like a snowshoe causing the vehicle to float on top of snow rather than cut through it. We've decided to to get a dedicated set of rims/rubber in a smaller size keeping within overall diameter. The Laredo base came with  245 70 17 as the standard wheel vs our 18". Although the snow does not stick around here long, ice becomes more of an issue and so will look for a tire with good ice grip as opposed to a M+S tire. Dropping the width down should increase snow carving also. There goes more money, but well spent IMO if it prevents one accident and increases her driving confidence.
I'm leaning towards the Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V1 as opposed to the Michelin X-Ice Xi2. Word is the Michelin are great the first year and last but the rubber hardens up and becomes less effective vs the Blizzaks.

not a bad idea at all... wheels and tires have become fashion accessories now. rarely is it function over the fashion.

enjoy the snowfalls this winter!

The Ody has a set of Blizzaks (WS-70) in oem size (235/17) and the thing goes through snow like it wasn't there. I had Blizzak Revo-1s on the previous Ody in 225/16 and that set was great too - the width doesn't seem to affect the Bridgestones much. Highly recommended!

Saw these a few weeks ago and emailed the company. They never got back to me. >:(

I believe they are looking for distributors and not one offs. I would have been happy with some feedback including a local reseller/installer.

Got them from a guy who upgraded to 22" on his limited. Thanks

I'm not a fan of super large wheels on a SUV especially come winter time. Eighteen is the max I'd feel comfortable on this vehicle (rubber also gets expensive). I'd be happier with 17" as a winter tire set.
