In regards to back-up cameras there are all kinds.
Some are more detail than others ie the Nissan round view which is superb.
Others are simple like the Mazda which just shows you the rear.

I like those intuitive backup cameras that show by twisty lines on where you will reverse into if you are steering into a spot.

A guy at work has one on his F150. When the roads are soggy or snowy, its useless.

Most of them work well most of the time.  The odd time you have to go wipe a finger on it. 

When I clean the snow off the car I wipe the camera as well.

Back up cams should be retracted when not in use or behind a read window within the range of a wiper.
