I don't know but it sure shows the appeal of the car itself.
I'm guessing it shows the appeal of State and Federal incentives more than anything
You think so? I doubt someone would change his pick of which $100K + car to drive for a $10K incentive.
Some of the rich people I knew often said something similar to "I didn't get rich by pissing away money". And while they spend money excessively, sometimes they are incredibly cheap.

They love freebies just as much as the next guy.

I fully agree with what you just wrote. However, as it has been written here many times, the interior of the S is nowhere as luxurious as other $100K cars, it rattles, build quality is not to par, etc. While I can see someone taking a 10% incentive to pick a 3rd choice of colour or a car slightly different than his first choice; I do not think a 10% or $10K incentive is enough to push someone to choose a car as radically different as the S.

When I moved from the G37X to the Leaf, the monthly lease went down $35/month. I did not switch to save $35/month and move to a smaller, far less luxurious car. I switched because I wanted an EV. I think this is the same motivation for the buyers of the S.

Ok, now I'm driving a Volvo company car, when I retire or get fired, whichever comes first, :) I'm back in an EV.

You are blasphemous!
The Tesla interiors are miles ahead of Audi, Mercedes, and BMW, and match Bentley's level of quality!

You should have told your company to give you a Tesla instead of that crap Volvo I mean seriously, all they'd have to do is take away someone else's company car and then you can take his budget and get a Tesla. Obvious this is the right choice.

Completely agree. Remove taxpayers' subsidies to the big oil and watch the gasoline hit 2 dollars a litre. Then we'll see how many will "have to" have a 3 row SUV and how many will go electric, or bicycle, or TTC.

They could spend $200/month on transit passes and be far ahead of any Tesla owner in terms of saving the planet AND saving money.

I took transit while my wife drove my '96 Z28 when we first got married, worked out fine.  I like transit, but can afford to drive my own car, so I picked the most environmentally sound car to commute in.  It's a balance to be sure.

But, if you can afford $120K combined worth of cars like some of my friends/co-workers, why not get a $100K Tesla and a $20K car like my Smart ED?

Have you ever thought that maybe your choices are not always the best choices for everyone?

(No, of course you haven't)

Tesla among least reliable brands

Noticed that Volvo dropped 7 places - I daresay there have been issues with the new XC90...

In the short span that's been my life (a little over 50 years) the world has changed quite a bit.  Technology has advanced and we've gone to space and on and on.  BUT there's one constant that I believe is actually a law of physics:

Fiat makes crap.

Consumer reports is simply too stupid to understand the awesome awesomeness of Tesla's reliability. Tesla's reliability is unbelievable. The best. Those who say otherwise are just part of the conspiracy to rig public opinion against Tesla. But they won't succeed. Because Tesla's amazing wonderfulness is the bigliest of them all.
Wokeism is nothing more than the recognition and opposition of bigotry in all its forms.  Bigots are predictably triggered.

Model S is back on recommended list:
http://insideevs.com/tesla-model-s-regains-consumer-reports-recommended-status-model-x-plagued-with-problems/

Oh hooray!  It gets "average" reliability up a notch from "bad".

Tesla slaps will the throwing a ticker tape parade.

Tesla sales up 145% from same quarter in 2015.  Makes $100M GAAP profit.   Customers happier than ever.   New 100kWh battery pack in high demand.  Stock up.   Investor confidence high.

In other news, I drove a $40K Camaro for 3 hours today and was once again completely underwhelmed by gas cars.
Looking forward to driving the Tesla when I get home.

$100M profit?  It was $22 million.  You Tesla fan boys even inflate Teslas own press releases!     And a large part of that was how they changed their accounting.  Plus, they didn't pay some of their bills..which helps with cash flow. And the biggest part was selling carbon credits.  $139 million worth vs $39 million a year ago.  So the profit isn't really from the car making business.  Smoke and mirrors....read up about it.

From another post:

First, Tesla changed the way they reported their accounting.
http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2016-10-26/tesla-earnings-smash-expectations-after-dramatic-change-reporting-methodology

You can also see they didn't pay their bills (suppliers) this quarter!   Accounts payable quadrupled!  So that leaves more cash on hand when you don't pay your bills.  :o

There are many articles on this smoke and mirrors.  Read up and enjoy!!
