The 500 Trekking will probably have awd.

The Trekking will not come with AWD. However, AWD is in the works for NA; it will be called the 500X. It is set for next year, the 2015 model, or for 2016, depending how fast they can do their R&D on it.

BTW, I love the Trekking, just the way it is (with a good set of winter tires, you don't need AWD if you know how to drive) - in yellow, please! I can't wait to give it a try, and if my calculations are correct, it should run @ just under 2,000 RPM at 100 km/hr . Pretty good! I agree there is not much torque at this low RPM, though; that is why you have six gears to play with. The 6th cog is only for highway cruising, the way a transmission should be set - five gears to play and one to cruise.
I almost traded my wife for... a Golf

I never said that, but thanks for the information.

With ruts up to the rocker panels of my XV this winter, two wheel drive cars had little chance in the most neighbourhoods in Regina at least.
On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.

I'm sure some of you have seen the Fiat 500L's Motherhood music video.

Brilliant! Thanks for posting it.

You can't make everything AWD just because a few live at the bottom of a mud puddle. Get a Jeep...a vehicle made for the ravages of living in the sticks. On safari you take a Land Rover and rough it. 99% just drive on the highway and have no need for AWD even though they are told they do.

that video is too funny!

the car looks pretty good in it, i just don't get the 3 layers of lights...
1. main big round lights - ok
2. the smaller round lights underneat - don't get it!
3. fog lights at the bottom of the bumper.

lights #2 --- why?   wouldn't the car look better without them?

We sat in one today and I thought it was rather nice. It's bigger than I thought; far removed from the small two door...and high. I did not like the pillars either but suppose one would become accustomed. The manual gear shifter was nice. In fact pretty nifty. I suppose 1.4 with 'T' is enough. I like it. Not for me though...not enough to tow the small trailer and more than required as a second little runabout car. But the 500T could be just the job if I keep the Caravan.
It's funny, the old 89 Trooper always put a smile on my face when I got in for a trip...so too do these cars...refreshing and still... Memories of time gone by. The Caravan is lika a baseball catcher...takes care of all the s..t thrown at it and then gets blamed for a passed ball...hmmm...memories. Ah well.

This vid is also a riot - The Fatherhood - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N8QZHsRsVuM

Saw a 500L on the road the other day.  Sat in one at a FIAT dealer.  As former Deputy Ambassador at the Canadian Embassy in Serbia, I feel somewhat compelled to help the little country get a leg up and replace the Aerio with one of these...
I'd rather be car-poor than house-poor...
