I hope Ford can pull this off.  The previous Ford GT didn't really out perform the exotics and it was quite crude in comparison.

I just can't see paying $400K for a Ford.  How snobby is that!??!?!

I can understand why they're being aggressive with the pricing, the previous GT was way underpriced. Used ones fetch more than new ones.

Great article Mr. Fung!! I disagree about one thing, a flat plane, big displacement V8 would be the perfect dance partner in this thing....a turbo V6, while techy and "frugal", is going to give it the exhaust note of an F150.....which is a pressure cooker with a faulty valve....le boo  Otherwise this is bloody gorgeous, way better than what the Italians and British are offering.
Lighten up Francis.....

Cheers, Fobroader. I agree with you about the V8. An angry flatplane rev-to-the-moon supercharged V8 would be my preference. I just mean that there's no sense in complaining about it anymore. All the manufacturers are headed that way, whether we like it or not.

When it comes to sportscars and supercars, efficiency be DAMNED! I want them brutal and angry. If they just happen to end up being efficient and "green" in the process, then that's great. I just don't care for that mandate being a priority at all (in this segment).

Like I get a Corolla or a Fusion being all about efficiency.....but c'mon, this is a supercar, its supposed to be a fire breathing, .50 cal high explosive, angry tyrannosaur showcase of what you can do.

It sounds ok, but a V8 is oh so much better.

As per the article, the cabin tub and the carbon-fibre body panels will be made by Multimatic Engineering in Markham.

Yes, you can make a turbo V6 or supercharged V6 sound great, but it will never compare to the brutality of a gnarly V8 that revs to the moon. I also love the sound of a good straight-six but a V8 is a V8.

;D I noticed ;D

I think the 3.5T V6 was chosen for weight, not for its fuel efficiency.  This seems like one over-engineered supercar, one with a lot to go wrong :P

You'd prefer an under-engineered supercar? Well, your call I suppose.  ;D

I can't think of any other supercar that has less tech. It's the nature of the beast. Not many normally aspirated engines left in the class, direct injection is the norm as is VVT and DCTs and exotic materials to reduce weight. I'd have more faith in Ford getting it right than the Italians.

The other thing is this 3.5L is putting out 600+hp. The same tech in a 5.0L V8 would have it putting out somewhere closer to 800-900hp without even trying. I'm not sure that having Ford GTs splatted all over the highways is really the image they're after.
On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.

I'd say as a percentage of the whole, more people die in pedestrian, boring cars like Focus and Fusions.  Man...what image is Ford trying to project with that??

(PSSSTT...Paul Walker died at only 93 MPH.  A Fiesta with 2 cylinders unplugged could go that fast!!)

I'd doubt it. At least if corrected for the number of garage queens.

Why did no one ask why the McLaren with a 3.8TT V8 only produces 570hp? Because it's plenty in a relatively light car.

He died because he broke traction at 93mph. You could slide off the road at 93mph in a Fiesta, but not because of its power.
