Normally I use metric, but in the case of my bike, it's EXACTLY 50lbs - so I use that measurement.

I arrived at a trailhead one midnight with the plan to ride the first bunch and then hike.  I rigged my climbing headlamp to my bike helmet and off I went.

OMG - It was terrifying.  Despite having 130lumens (which is great for a normal headlamp) I could barely see where I was going - trying to miss rocks, roots, etc, was nearly impossible.  I made terrible time, but persevered 'cause I really wanted to have my bike for the descent in the daylight.

I'm going to get that 650 bike light!!!  Thanks for the review!!!!

One thing that kills me on some rides is the overnight pack - I can't believe how much extra energy it takes to grind my already-way-way-too-heavy bike up a grade with even just 20lbs on my back.

Ya the difference between hiking and biking at night is huge. I've hiked out in the dark with a simple Tikka+ but I'd never try riding a bike with that light, even on a smooth trail.

Let me know your thoughts of the light. You can get brighter but then you are easily over $100. Doesn't seem worth it unless you are doing a night race.

Looks great on your bike.

You don't have to explain it to me as I also got one. Actually I wish I knew that as I ordered 5 of them as my sister was coming home from the USA which saved shipping/duties. Of course the exchange rate wasn't kind. Since you are always in the USA you should order one.

It's no Hello Kitty bell  ;D , but I'm digging it.  Loud clear ring from a tiny dome that takes up almost no space at all.

Oh, and mornings don't get any nicer than this one for a ride.

Nope - mine is an even 50lbs!  But it's taken me on some really cool adventures and now I'm kinda fond of it.  And for the $139 original investment, it just seems ridiculous how robust the stupid thing it.  Now it's almost a game to see how long it will last...!

My 1989 Raleigh Matterhorn weighs 40 lbs. and is as solid as a 1975 F150.

Had an awesome ride today.  Great trail, despite some big gravel in spots.  Challenging because you're going uphill away from Lake Ontario, so even the weenie hills make you curse.  But then, when you turn back... it's WHEEE WHEEEE WHEEE all the way home.   ;D  I even let out a "YEE-HAW!"  on a particularly steep curve, going past a stopped family on the way back.  They all laughed out loud.

Yeah, you definitely want the long uphill on the way out, not on the way back.

I don't like you guys... bad influence... Mariposa in Toronto has them in-stock, a little bit more $ than from Spurcycle direct but for some reason they only ship internationally via DHL and not USPS/Canada Post (my preferred method for US-CAN shipping).

^^^ I hear you. I avoid couriers like the plague. If you can get it locally, worth it to spend a bit more, methinks.

Bought new shoes the other day. Better fit than my old Shimano shoes and the sole is stiffer, too. It's too early for a final verdict, but so far I quite like them.
