We've been off the resort all the times we've been in Mexico, if you have half a brain, you won't have trouble

Any country that has advisories can easily be substituted by another destination that doesn't!
Good times, affordable, hot, people are friendly....whats the problem??

Apart from it being a dump and Canadian being murdered on, in and around resorts?
Nothing...nothing at all.
LOL. From a 2010 article: "According to Foreign Affairs Canada, 112 Canadians have been killed in accidents, murders, drownings or suicides since Mexico started an aggressive war against its various drug cartels in Feb. 2006. From that number, 15 Canadians were murdered or died in suspicious deaths."
Canadians make somewhere around 14 million overnight visits to Mexico per year. Your chance of being murdered there might be less than it is at home.
This x100.....I am not worried.
Last time I was in Mexico, was walking around (off the resort) in Puerto Vallarta & there were bunch of Canadian white haired ladies walking around as well... I turned to my GF & said if they feel safe here, then we're sure as hell safe... cause I can run a hell of lot quicker than they can & throw a punch a lot harder too!!
That said, I did have a little shady guy asking us if we were looking to "party", assumed he probably meant if we were looking to buy drugs or whatever, I politely said "no thanks" and then just kept walking. Nothing more became of that. Like Fob has said, a little bit of brain & common sense will keep you safe!
