Photography Bag
« on: March 05, 2015, 04:49:42 pm »
looking for some suggestions.
I already have a fantastic large bag for big trips to hold all my gear (Tamrac)

But I'm looking for something more compact for day trips.
Likely a backpack style bag that would be used when cross country skiing, mountain biking and hiking.

It needs to be strong, compact but offer an easy and quick way to access the camera when needed.

In the past I've thrown my camera inside a camel back.   It's makes the bag bulky and the camera isn't all that secured inside.

looking for some expert advice from maybe Brigitte or Turbo Bob!
thanks!!!!

edit:   I was checkout (online) one of Lowepro's slingshot bags but I'm not sure how secure the fit would be (handle staying on my back biking)

Don't they have a backpack-type one as well?  Hatchback, Flipside, Rover, Photosport.  Henry's has a good "Lowepro Bag Finder" tool, where you enter your camera body, lens and accessories.  It then offers recommendations.  Not sure I'd use a sling for biking.

Lowepro for backpack style.

Domke for over the shoulder style.

Both are great brands, I love my Domke.  I have this one.

Choosing a car based on reliability is like choosing a wife based solely because she is punctual. There is more to it than that...

thanks for the recommendations!!!!

Lowepro's bag finder tool is pretty cool.   I think I may have found something in the backpack format.
(Flipside Sport or Photo Sport)

Pretty awesome they're not only dedicated camera bags but also have been designed to hold a hydration bladder.    My dream bag!!!!  Don't know why I've never seen those before!!!

Yep!  Enjoy.  I was researching those a while ago, in my mega-hiking days.  But, because I shoot on the fly a lot of the time, a bag just wasn't going to be my thing.  I use an Ezee Strap now - takes the pressure of three pounds of camera gear (for six hours at a time) off my neck.
