Miata and Corvette...
« on: February 26, 2015, 09:04:19 pm »
Turbo Miatas are pretty cool.  LS V-8 Miatas are pretty cool.  What about a Turbo LS V-8 Miata?  Ridiculous!  In the first pull, the Miata is getting all loose at 100mph.  That's right, it can't hook up at 100mph!

I've driven a 540hp Miata, and it was almost undriveable.  There was just no real way to use the power, and it had way stickier rubber than the car in the vid.  That car is putting over 600hp to the wheels!  (Other sources show a dyno plot of 700hp at the wheels with the boost up a bit...)

Maybe once I fully retire I'll buy a worn out NA Miata and a nice tool chest...

Thats insane, that little thing is a rocket.  Traction would be at a huge premium though, you would need like 355 width rear tires to hook up.

Lighten up Francis.....

They won't fit without body mods - and then you muck up the rear geometry unless you're very careful.  A set of Hoosiers is the best bet without going that far, but you sure won't want to see a drop of rain...

My friend only has like 230hp, maybe less.   And it's undriveable when the turbo hits with big sticky tires.   This is crazy

Yea...that falls into the unuseable power.  There really isn't a point to having so much power...except maybe for bench racing or bragging rights.
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

A local guy is "downgrading" from a 540hp NA Miata to a 430hp NC Miata.  Why?  Flyin Miata has put more engineering into the NC V-8 conversion to allow the car to better use the power.  While the NA cars cope surprisingly well, the reworked NC chassis is much better.

The 430hp NC will still be blindingly fast - and I bet faster in most circumstances thanks to the ability to use the power and that after about 400hp, the little Miatas just burn it all off in tire smoke anyway...

Would be very beneficial for that guy to buy something like RaceLogic traction control system.  Works incredibly well and really puts the power down.
