I was told today there has been 700 orders in for the first production. If you ordered before Bursary 18th you are in the first production for NA in June/July. Other like myself are SOL and will be in the next wave. No idea what the US numbers are.... but fack.

There aren't really waves for vehicle arrival. Dealers' orders are consumed by the production system once a month, based on orders entered by the dealer and available allocation. Each month's orders have a projected production month, but sometimes cars get built sooner (or later) than initially expected.

For this first month of ordering for the Golf R, the official wording from Volkswagen Canada to dealers was "Your first Golf R allocation will open today for June and July production, with expected releases starting in August. "

Thus, any orders that were entered prior to Wednesday, February 18th at 5pm EST and received allocation for production, should be in the June/July production. At this point, it is too early to tell what the final allocation for this order cycle ended up being. There's are nearly 700 orders in the system after one week of the vehicle being available to order. How many of those will get built in the June/July timeframe, that is a question that I cannot answer at this point. I expect that within the next week or two we will see how many of these 700 move forward in the production system

Not sure if this clarifies the situation at all, I'll let you know if there are any new developments....

When I placed a firm order in 2012 from factory for my former Volt, which btw was  the 1st year of availability in Canada, I had nothing else than a vague guesstimate from my dealer. I have been advised once my car was arrived, few months later!

Spell check at work get confused when I switch from email in French to the next one, in English. It introduces quite a lot of errors: typo, wrong word or something totally unrelated or weird, or it strips all the accents from the vowel é,è,ê,ë, etc, you got the picture  ;)

Ask them when can we expect the e-Golf here in Canada !

Anyone else see this article?

http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/sedans/1503_2015_subaru_wrx_sti_vs_2015_volkswagen_golf_r/

I've got to say that I'm a bit surprised that the Golf R stacked up so well in the performance numbers compared to the STI.  September can't get here soon enough.  I wonder how Randy Pobst would feel about the Golf R in a manual.  Seems like his main issue with the GTI was the lack of a defeatable safetly nannies, now his complaint is mainly the DSG on the track.

One this is clear, the Golf R will be much easier to live with on a daily basis.  That's what I wanted.  I was never going to really track any car I was going to get (especially since NB doesn't really offer much), so getting something that I would enjoy more in everyday life made more sense.

In Sport mode the transmission was not downshifting until I gave it the gas. Well, that's too late. It needs to already be in the gear."

They were racing around the track in sports mode? The car should be in manual mode. :banghead:

I missed that one.  As I'm getting the manual myself I'm not 100% sure but maybe the "Sport" (should be called track) mode has a rev match downshift, whereas the manual might not.  That might explain it.  But I'm not 100% sure.  I think Pobst would like the manual version a bit better but it would probably not be as fast as this DSG.

The DSG rev matches in all modes.

Well then I guess he doesn't have any excuses.

Well the first 2016 Golf R just arrived at the dealer here in Fredericton, looks like mine will be next.  Won't be too long now until I'll be posting a Show & Shine thread.

I order a Pure White (there's also a pearl white), manual, none tech package.  I've heard that the tech package cars are a solid month or two behind the none tech ones.

So do the non-tech cars come with the 6.5" navigation system?
