My wife was complaining about the fuel economy on the RAV getting worse in the last 6 months, so I entered all the fill ups since we got it in April 2012 into Excel; it has averaged 11.5 l/100 kms lifetime. I ran some trend lines as well, and it is pretty consistent, but does show a slight increase over time. I must say I am not surprised, but am disappointed. The Forester (both of them) got much better than this. For some perspective, the last 6 months (Nov-April) we had the Sienna it was getting 12.5.
I'm on a driving/trail-running trip with the Miata. I'm taking quiet mountain roads and driving hella fast. Slowing to 120 occasionally but mostly 140-150 and longish stretches at 160-170.
Just filled and recorded 7.8L/100km. The benefits of a small engine, light weight and small aero profile. Percentage wise it's much higher than the 6.0 I usually see highway driving, but considering the velocities involved, excellent.

Considering what you were doing, I would say that is pretty darn tooting good! The XT will see numbers around 13-15 at those speeds, so goes to show what light weight and decent aerodynamics will give you.
