There's only one car I think I find sexier right now than this one, it's the coup version of this car.  This is simply the most appealing car to my eye's and ears.  Of course my brain says a Porsche is a better machine and wallet says a Stingray would be a better choice.

and that is the beauty of this car, its sex appeal just consumes all rational thought. Love it. No way I would get a Porsche over this, it would be just so boring in comparison...

Now drives a Jaaaaaaag...and thus will not pay for anything during an outing...but it is OK, because....I drive a Jaaaaaag.

I don't disagree.  I've driven the F-Type on three occasions now (both V8 and V6S) and simply can't get enough.  You can't help being a rock star when you're in it (especially this obnoxious orange one) and the sound is nothing short of astonishing.  Maybe as they become more common some of the lustre will wear off, but for now, I'm so smitten by this thing and I think the only cure will be more seat time in a Boxster S or Vette.   ;D

Just saw this exact car (colour and V8) this morning on the Henday in Edmonton. Pulled up beside him and gave him thumbs up and then he punched it hard, wow that exhaust is amazing in person. Looks fantastic in that orange too. My new mid life crisis car when i get there in a few years....

We have rented the V6S coupe F Type for our upcoming trip to the UK. Should be fun blasting around the English country roads. We would have rented the convertible, to make the most of the awesome sound, but there just isn't enough trunk space.

I would not opt for the firesand orange colour because I would be afraid that some jealous prick would key it in the parking lot lol

Suits you...  :P (Me, too  :-[)

This is the time to have it. The rock stars will get it now and keep it for months or a year or two, then move on to the next freshest thing... that's just how it work. I think the XK, from 2007-2014, now into its twilight, still looks fabulous next to this latest darling, and even next to the classic E-Type Convertible. Jaguar has its mojo going in coupes and convertibles, but the sedans don't quite come together for me in the same way. And the Crossover, the C-X17, looks fantastic for that segment - a perfect styling counterpoint to the Range Rover/Sport.

looking back - seat time in the Vette isn't exactly a cure - the Jag is shades better in a lot of ways, and it would come down to preferences and taste, unless you are capped at $80K and require a V8 for, um, towing?

While this car is sexy, I find the coupe way better looking. Regardless, this would be one those cars that I would definitely buy with my loins and heart instead of my brain, the 911 is a better car all around, but this, this is lust broken down into its most primordial form.
Lighten up Francis.....

Agreed, but that's true of most sports cars.

Yeah, but not for free - you wouldn't believe what he charges me for his 'thoughts'!  ;D

The old 'C' types and 'E' types pushed the right buttons at the time and stood out and performed on the track also. It's hard to stand out in this category now. The time has gone by IMO.

It's pretty stupidly expensive. My wife arranged it through Avis Prestige. The cost is about 700 pounds per day I think. It's part of a pretty epic early 40th birthday present, which also includes a few days at Wimbledon and dinner and one night at Le Manoir aux Quat'saisons.

Personally I think it's part of a hidden agenda, since she's been dropping hints for ages that our next cars have to be British. I wonder if she thinks the exhaust note of the F Type will be too addictive to give up.

We have rented the V6S coupe F Type for our upcoming trip to the UK. Should be fun blasting around the English country roads. We would have rented the convertible, to make the most of the awesome sound, but there just isn't enough trunk space.

I'm just too cheap to own a Jag.  A friend of mine has a 2001 XK8 and his service costs are Veyron like.  His bills make owning an S-Class of 7-series look downright cheap.  He's not left the dealer, even for a routine service, with a bill less than $1K.  When he's in for an oil/filter, there's always a couple small things that need doing, and the parts/labour are truly shocking.  We were comparing his records with mine for the 911, and again, the Porsche looked Corolla-like in terms of cost.

I've seen a few new ones in the tin, and don't think they're THAT sexy.  Very nice, but not as striking as I'd hoped the new sporting Jag would be.
