[Help] Possible Wheel Lock?
« on: December 05, 2014, 07:54:36 pm »
Hi,

I took pictures of my Acura 98 EL tire.
The center of the 4 lugnuts, Is this a lock mechanism?

Will the tire come off ignoring whatever the center is?

I looked in my manual, nothing about a lock. or any instructions on removing the tire.

Do they all look like that?  Never seen that unless it is broken.

Hi there.

What you are looking at is the axle nut, holding the axle to your wheel hub.  Its not connected to your rims, so you can go ahead and safely remove the rims if you can.

oh and make sure you do NOT attempt to loosen the big nut in the picture.

Umm, no you didn't. Not even a little bit.

But anyway, what aqua-d said above: remove the four lug nuts and don't touch the big nut in the middle. And I'm sure if you look a little closer in the manual, you'll find detailed instructions for jacking up the car and removing/replacing a wheel.
