The love-child of a Passat CC and Taurus?

I have to say I like the exterior styling. Indeed, it looks like a cross between the CC and the Taurus. The steering wheel it the only letdown I can see from pictures. From the specsheet, the powertrain options are downright wrong - 2 NA 4-cylinder engines with the useless eAssist on a full-size sedan? Avis will appreciate that. The 3.6 is gonna be thirsty.

A beauty skin deep.

Yup, good looking car. If they can price it around $28,000 Grandpa's everywhere will be pleased.

Looks good.

This is what the US Passat should have looked like.

decent looking, but too Camry-ish for me. Was hoping it would have more Camaro influence in it.

Also, even though I work at a Chevy dealership, I am not ashamed to say these powertrain options are terrible. The only engine worth mentioning is the 300hp 3.6L, which is thirsty. You need that kind of power to shuttle around full size cars these days. Under 200hp, sorry, wont cut it. Why in heavens name did GM not put an LTZ option for the 2.0L turbo from the new Malibu with 260hp/260tq? Now that would be a great engine and much more fuel efficient too. Plus it would add some "street cred" to the car if someone wants to tune it up (Ecotecs are pretty robust to high HP).

Wierd that the Malibu can be optioned to have a much better powertrain than its larger sibling. Yep, grandpa car until they throw a turbo in there.
If driving an Alfa does not restore vitality to your soul, then just pass the hospital and park at the morgue to save everyone time.

Now drives a Jaaaaaaag...and thus will not pay for anything during an outing...but it is OK, because....I drive a Jaaaaaag.

What a complete clusterf***.    Another rental fleet queen.  Not even suitable anymore for city police work.

Malibu to small inside and this new Impala to large.  GM just has to have them both.  Can't concentrate on just one really good model.  Think Accord.

Rental cars don't need 300 hp. In fact, the less the better for rentals, as it lessens the chance of the cars having the bark beat off them.

These things will make great prairie boats for Granny and Grampy. One off rental would be a sweet deal at $18k or so.

Maybe because they now have a real police car, known as the PPV ;)

No but really, the new Impala is very attractive, inside and out.

Im just gonna put this out there, what if someone whos not a rental company wants to buy one, and most mid sized sedans are at the 250-300 horse range. That means its uncompetitive......but yeah, grandpa doesnt care, hell will float on happy with sub 200 horses.

PPV is not for Canada.  So in Canada, Police forces get a Tahoe if they want a Chevy, or nothing.

hopefully GM isnt only targeting the rental fleets with these cars, maybe a real person may want them. If so, they need more than 200hp to get moving with any means. Grandpa will be happy with under 200hp. But like I said, it would be nice to at least have the OPTION to have the 2.0L turbo for some punch and efficiency balance.

I've driven thru the midwest lately (ending in Memphis) and the only Chevys are those Tahoes.  When you enter cities such as Nashville and Memphis the Police are transitioning from the previous Impalas to the Charger.  They buy on price.  New York City is almost exclusively the old Impala.  Cities and States are broke down there and nobody is going to buy that expensive rear drive unit (PPV) with replacement parts thru the roof.  Just another GM miscalculation of what's happening in the market.  Think "E-Assist".

They don't know who they are targeting.  Criteria was probably that it must be larger inside than the Malibu and cheaper that the Lacrosse.  So out it comes.  Honestly, who is going to buy that  ???  Old ppl?  They can't see out of it.   Where is the split 35/65 front seat with the column shifter?   That's what old folks and fat Americans want.  Stupid to get rid of something that no other company offered.

Can't tell everything from photos, obviously, but that looks pretty sharp to me.  Better by far than any remotely recent Impala, better than the current Taurus for sure, and nicer than the disappointing new Malibu.
Wokeism is nothing more than the recognition and opposition of bigotry in all its forms.  Bigots are predictably triggered.
