all while there is a court case on whether the indians name and logo should be used in rogers center due to it's inherent racism.
now, i always thought the logo was a smiling caricature of an indian and never thought anything of it. it's not like indian is a bad slur or something and the logo never seemed that bad... just a cartoon logo. not like i thought all patriots looked like the new england mascot, or that montreal represented all canadians... is it belittling a bear to name a team after them? could a zoologist bring forth a case stating that it is unfair to bears as chicago portrays them as a rough creature, when deep down they are just misunderstood? will all logos have to be photorealistic?
maybe this should be in the PC thread, but it has been on my mind since it was in the news... and i know that was the point, but like every aboriginal attempt at calling out racism or unfair treatment, all it does is make me shake my head at them..
now the funny little cartoon on the arms of a ball team has been referred to as "hook-nosed" and "bucktoothed" by the people trying to defend the people it represents... and the one racist part, it's name, has been brought back up from obscurity where it belonged (chief wahoo)
