Got my best tank yet in the GTI coming back from Kingston. Had the cruise set at 115 driving between Kingston and Riviere-du-Loup.

36.8 MPG / 6.4 L/100km

115?  You're one of THOSE guys.  Please tell me you stayed out of the left lane, LOL.  That trip (at least east of Quebec City) is supposed to be done at 125 min, with excursions up to 140.
My diesel car self-identifies as an electric vehicle.

That's a true GPS-verified 115, indicated 120. I got a ticket east of Quebec City a couple years ago and didn't want a repeat of that. Only a handful of cars passed me.

Did a 90-km "triangle" around the region today, a mix of rural roads, urban, and finally the autobahn. ø = 6,0 l/100km.

Wow, that is really good. I wonder how much better (if any) the TSI would do under the same conditions.

For a big wagon that is great. What is the price of diesel over there?

Well, I just filled the Olds the other day and did a quick look and it's getting just above 16 mpg(US) but I can't say that's accurate as it's off the tank it was delivered with so no ideas exactly when he filled it. I'm happy though as it is at LEAST getting that.

So I guess in that stupid L/100km crap (which is meaningless as car magazines etc don't use it so nothing to compare it to.) 14.7.  ;)

Depends on the crappy car magazines you read!  Don't diss the metric system Canada uses, on Canada day!

I can't say i read any of them anymore, especially after Car & Driver sold out 20 years ago and became Minivan and SUV driver.  :rofl2:

I like the U.K. mags as they are worth reading but can't afford them the last few years. Anything done over here tends to be just fluff and may as well be written by their advertisers and badly edited. As for Canadian magazines, are there any even in existence anymore?

Thing is that l/100km means nothing as everywhere else cars are measured in MPG so no real comparison. But yeah, Canada Day so I'll cheer the partyline: METRIC RULES!!!  :rofl2:

And yeah, I'm just teasing. ;D

L/100km is preferred.  It shows us how much fuel is used...fuel consumption is what's important.  Not distance traveled (MPG)

How old are you anyways?  80?
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

The most recent tank in my Rio was 7.7L/100 km, 100% horrid Vancouver traffic. I am seeing steady improvement.

The rating is 8.7, and it seems the new testing system is rather pessimistic, at least in my case, anyway.
I'd never join a group that would have me as a member.

Where is everywhere?  Europe and Canada, use L/100km, UK & US use mpg (with a different gallon!)

And it makes no sense to say I get 30mpg when I fill up my car in litres at the gas station, and the odometer records in km...

Unless you Do get 30 mpg..... ;D

Use to average 9L/100km (or 26mpg) when I did 90% city.  Now it's more 40% city / 60% highway, and I average 7L (or 34 mpg).

Average 16.1 kWh / 100 kM on my last 10,000 km (winter included!)

Gone but not forgotten in chronological order: 2019 Volt, 2013 Volt, 2014 Spark EV, 2012 Volt and many others before...

hum... don't know in L / 100 kM but what I know is $1.60 / 100 kM  8) (10¢ / kWh)

For calculations involving gasoline/electricity energy equivalency, the following conversions are used:

1 US gallon = 114,500 BTU (conventional summer gasoline)
    1 kWh = 3412 BTU
    1 gallon (US) = 33.56 kWh
    1 litre = 8.87 kWh

http://ecomodder.com/forum/tool-conversions.php#_top

Ok, so 16 kWh÷ 8.87 kWh / L = 1.803833 L => 1.81 L / 100 kM × $1.299 **/ L = $2.35 / 100 kM

I find my approach much easier : $0.10 / kWh × 16 kWh / 100 kM = $1.60 / 100 kM  ;)
Edit(2): 16 kWh / 100 kM + 20% losses = 19.2 kWh / 100 kM × $0.10 / kWh = $1.92 / 100 kM

Edit: **How much does cost 1L of gas those day?  ::) I have to check on GasBuddy apps
Thanks for the link

Edit(2): To be fair, I added a 20% average for electrical losses due to conversion in the charging process but in reality it is less, because the number of kWh / 100 kM showed includes the regenerative energy capture (NB: average has almost the same % rate compared to the AC charger losses, so it is no loss, no gain in my minds ) when decelerating but it gives a good idea....

Got almost exactly 9L/100 km on the first two tanks through the S2000.  That's mostly mild to medium backroad hooning (wife on board.. :P) so not bad imo.
