The Subaru Lemon From Hell
« on: January 27, 2015, 09:10:17 pm »

Relevant since this story actually happened in Quebec:

http://www.montrealracing.com/forums/showthread.php?879220-Histoire-dhorreur-avec-Moteurs-sautes-et-garantie-Subaru&p=9577208&viewfull=1#post9577208

Crazy to think that this kind of thing can happen and CAMVAP hasn't done anything about it. And it goes without saying, don't go to this dealer - the name isn't mentioned, but you can work it out based on the locations mentioned.

All I can say is wow.

Really shocking that Subaru wouldn't step up. This is beyond awful.

I don't understand why more companies don't do the "corporate stores" route like MB given thats where 99% of customer interaction happens...you need to have quality control over your franchises!
You can't just have your characters announce how they feel.
That makes me feel angry!

Interesting story but I wonder what he is worried about being sued for by that dealer. I would have put up their name and let them try and sue me.

Who knows if the engines were new...
Could have been refurbs.

Or worse?

Wow, if this situation truly is everything the claimant says it is, that is a miserable situation, but we've only heard one side of the story.

Yeah really. I would gladly put their name out there.

Thats my thing too.....BUT....the fact they wouldn't start an oil consumption rate is highly suspect and the fact they did replace 4 engine for nada also makes me think they are just waiting for this poor guy to hit 60K so they can wash their hands of him.
Lighten up Francis.....

he got a lemon... it was improperly fixed... but we are only hearing the side of the angry guy. no doubt that it is a horrible situation, but i'm going to do my thing of being a dick.

so lets look at this from the "suing" dealer... a car he made zero dollars on... a customer who is already irate and unable to make happy from two other dealers (at the shop they would also know that at some point, the warranty claims will start to get denied)... a fix that is not easy to diagnose... a customer who is seemingly unwilling to pay for diagnostic (in the case that it is not a warranty issue)...

running a business, you sometimes realize that if you aren't going to make a person happy, no matter what you do (in your power), then why do anything?

so while it sucks, just saying i get it.
i used to be addicted to soap, but i'm clean now

Clearly he needs NoTo on his side!

The dealer's stuck between a rock and a hard place. The original dealer should have resolved it, but Subaru should foot the bill.
To the contrary, I'm not on his side, nor any other side.  I don't know enough facts (as stated above by Jeff, this is one-sided).  That he has a bunch of work orders is not indicative of anything, and if his dealership had a hack of a mechanic, that doesn't speak much to Subaru's actions.  While the dealership may be largely at fault here, a disgruntled consumer will not get as far as someone who is kind and understanding.  We do not know what happened, the consumer's demeanour, or what was offered.

One thing's for sure, though: the CVT wouldn't have had the same issue as the manual transmission ;D (just poking ya'll).

I also don't do product liability or contract disputes, nor am I licensed to practice in la belle provence.

Lots in that story doesn't add up.  If I had my engine replaced, and it started making noise when I picked it up. I wouldn't move it, I'd shut it down on the spot.

yeah, there are a few of those... like him stating the misfire, yet not bringing it back to the shop for 5000kms or so...

i'm sure it's a case where he is not wrong... but it becomes easy to let the facts get muddled and certain "untruths" are said (and sometimes even believed) just because they look a certain way through upset eyes...

memory tends to adapt to what you want... but again, i still would not want this happening to me or someone i know... there is no doubt that something is wrong and someone besides the driver has some serious fault.
