That Spitfire is gorgeous, and a great buy at that price! Not fair, I can't even read the ad
BWII. I am fairly familiar with those Jags. My dad has owned his 99 XK8 since new, now at 8x,xxxkms and my brother recently bought an 01 XKR with similar mileage. Both cars are summer daily drivers. Pre-01 cars have an issue with the cylinder lining wearing away, so my reco would be to stay with 01+. The other big issue is a cheap plastic timing chain tensioner that can break, I'd get that replaced with the stronger updated part ASAP upon buying any car. Otherwise, just typical stuff; the control arm bushings seem fairly fragile and frequently go bad, headliners (coupes, and windshield trim area on the converts) tend to fall apart.
Overall the running costs have not been too bad on them. Both my dad and brother insist on using the local Jag dealer for service - so they fork out for the pricey labour on stuff. If it were me I'd probably take my chances with an independent, especially when it comes to wear items like brakes and whatnot.
The platform was designed and built under the Ford era - although that 4.0L V8 (or the later 4.2L) are Jag engines, and I am not aware of a whole lot of Ford parts on them. Nice low mileage cars like the one you posted can be had at great prices now, and with such elegant styling I believe we'll see these become fairly collectible in the next 10-15 years. It probably goes without saying, but they drive great..Definitely more of a grand tourer than a sports car; quite, comfortable, nice composed ride. Handling is sharp, but you do feel the weight of them.
