Rock climbing in $800 pants and $1300 vests. FFS. On what planet? ::)

Pretentious twaddle.
On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.

GQ's target audience:  those who pretend, not those who do.

GQ published a ridiculous article about climbing that used women as accessories, and Outdoor Research redid the article in a "flip" and it's friggin' hilarious.

Love it!  And the GQ men were from The North Face!

ok, to be devil's advocate, i don't see what's wrong with it.

GQ is primarily men's magazine.   it featured men climbing sh1t.   and it's got hot women around those climbers.  and it's like 99% advertisement, more than anything.

how is this different from hotrod magazines, with ....cars and hot scantily clad women on the cover?

i think it's OR that's self serving by calling attention to something innocuous like the GQ article.   i didn't really see any overtly sexists stuff in the linked article either.

rockclimbing is primarily guy sports, too.  sure, there are women in it, but it's mostly guys.

does GQ have to have affirmative action just because there are more pepole of 1 demographic(young white guys) doing certain things(rock climbing), you MUST show people of other demographics  even if they suck or there are way less number of them?.

Maybe I don't spend enough time at the crag with the sport monkeys, but when I do, the women are almost always active participants, not spectators or ornaments.  GQ could have slightly altered the feature to include the women as participants and they could have still told the "story" of the clothes, etc.

i'm with aqua here... i expected the pics to be scandalous. those were nothing...

and i would assume the women to be "background" or "accessories" in a magazine marketed towards men.. especially, the men who read GQ! i also would expect those women to be much more fake looking then the ones in the article.. those ones were decent i thought. only a couple rock bunnies, with a few that i could actually believe can climb.

anywho... whateves... i would find it hard to believe gq can offend people... this is the most people i've seen discussing gq in the last 20 years.

i used to be addicted to soap, but i'm clean now

Who in their right mind wears all that expensive hipster :censor: for rock climbing??? The only outrage I saw in that article was the cost for that horrid clothing, I think GQ is going for the American Psycho demographic

What a bunch of cry babies in here. You guys complain about expensive clothes prices as much as you do with options on a Porsche.   ::)

In order for it to have been a proper parody, they should have used hotter guys.  ;D

Here's the ideal design specification. And they need to increase the number of shirtless shots and have a couple of guys in daisy dukes.

The skate culture is traditionally macho and homophobic, like most sport scenes.  This guy will help change people's minds.  Despite all the progress that has been made, even in a country like Canada, homphobia is alive and well.

Hey man, you would know a hell of a lot better than I would. I just don't correlate who someone is sleeping with to ability to perform a task.

i find that odd... skating is not a bunch of bros who once they are done skating, they go and lift at the gym. they are slender, tight jean wearing, tatted up guys with great balance and poise...

i would not be surprised to hear a higher % of skaters were homosexual than a normal cross section of the general public...
