yep.

i think as soon as something is only considered a luxury due to a label and a badge, we are missing the point. or, more to that point, the customer is placing value in something that has no real worth.

in the 90's, there was an attempt to make chrysler the luxury brand of chryco... (dodge the sporty, jeep the utility, and plymouth the value).. that changed a bit over time as things were dropped and ownership changed hands, but all in all... it was a huge failure. all they did was market it differently, not build it any differently.

so yeah... buy into the product, not the marketing. and the vehicle, not the brand.

If a person will pay for something intangible then it has tangible value or to use your term, real worth...you're a salesman, you know this.

Exactly!   My Mom used to say that the Birks blue box added 25% to the cost of whatever was in it.  ;D

......and we all know that a three pointed star or propeller rondel adds a lot of value to any car  ;)
Old Jag convertible...one itch I won't have to scratch again.

January US sales:
Touareg 962
Cayenne 1500
Grand Cherokee 11065
I suspect Jeep aren't going to have much of a problem moving product.

How many of those were priced at $70k?
Wokeism is nothing more than the recognition and opposition of bigotry in all its forms.  Bigots are predictably triggered.

Those are US sales numbers so I'd guess exactly zero were priced at 70K  ;D

On the other hand,I was looking at used (2011 and 2012) JGC's on autotrader yesterday. There were 16 in NB and NS and everyone of them was a Laredo trim. What are Laredo's in Canada?...40ish?

and you'd be amazed at some jeep buyers... i've had two guys buying them for their wives. they literally said, "whats the best one I can get?... ok, can i get it in white?" and that's that.

Some people are just loaded. But if you're loaded enough to swing around cash like that, why not walk into a MB or Porsche dealer? ???
You can't just have your characters announce how they feel.

Based on the Grand Cherokees I see around here? All of them.  ;D
On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.

Not everyone wants it to look like they spent a bunch of cash. To most people a Jeep, no matter how loaded, is not in the same price league as a Porsche/BMW/MB.

Because theres people like me, who find a Jeep a much better SUV than those other SUVs. If I was looking at a nice, comfortable, capable mid size suv, the GC would be my first stop. The X5/ML/Cayenne are a little too real housewives of Edmonton rated for my tastes.
Lighten up Francis.....

yeah, some trophy wives want to seem low maintenance maybe... and they think the jeep must be cheaper. who knows what they are thinking.

as for the worth/value thing, yeah, i'm in sales and understand that... doesn't mean i have to like it! be the change you want to see in the world... i want the world to be less stupid. when the right product is built well and priced accordingly, it should sell. not when marketers do a good job of convincing people to pay more than something is worth for a product they didn't need in the first place.

i am just not a fan of falsified value. no matter what brand. it just bugs me. (doesn't mean i won't do my job and "sell the sizzle", but i won't always like it)
