I mentioned above the big road trip, including some gravel.  It is done: 774 kms total, of which 87 was on gravel.  As I fueled 3 times, I had to hand calculate the trip average fuel economy, and it worked out to 8.0.  Speeds on the Inland Highway reached 125-130, but once off that it was mostly 105 on cruise control.  The gravel ranged from 30-70, with probably a 55 average.

Lifetime average has now dropped to 8.6.

I am very impressed, and pleased, with the fuel usage so far with the XT.

The new XT has nearly no fuel economy penalty compared to the 2.5L aspro. Except for the higher purchase price, the XT is much more desirable than the aspro now.

First post in this thread.  I drive my R to work every day (roughly 20 Kms round trip) and once on the weekend running errands around town.  Car says average speed of roughly 50kms per hour.  Looked at when I fuelled up last and it was May 26!  I made it through June without buying gas for her.  I still have almost a quarter of a tank left and 100kms of stated range. My average is in the high 8'sL/100kms.

Going in for my first service on July 8 and will only be at roughly 7,500kms for the year.  Someone will be getting a peach of a vehicle in 4 years when I trade her in for something new.

The Versa's fuel economy seems to be getting better with age. On my last tank, in pretty much all stop and go city traffic with the AC on about half the time, it worked out to 7.9L/100km. That's better than it's ever been and a lot better than when the car was new 9 years ago. Back then it had a hard time getting better than 10L/100km in town.

I am using Fuelly/Gas Cubby to track the mileage on the 560 SEL.

Went through the first full tank of 91-octane (Shell V-Power because no ethanol) and refueled it fully - 20.0L/100km.

That sounds about right for that car. Do a long distance cruise & you should be able to get down around 11 is what I've read on the W126 forums. Still an awesome car tho.

That's really good for a 300PS vehicle ! My 325i follows the same driving profile (20km commute return trip, weekend local errands, ø speed of 50km/h) and is at low 9s with much less power (218PS), albeit with 2 more cylinders.

Goes to show, most folks are fine with 3 or 4 cylinder motors. Don't need the 6 unless you're always on the autobahn.

From the US border to Fargo, North Dakota, cruise set at 75 mph, driving into a 15 mph headwind, the Mazda 3 recorded 9.0 L/100 km or 31.3 mpg.  Engine revs about 3050 rpm at that speed.

10.5L/100km for my MDX during a 115-120km highway roadtrip from Toronto-Chicago-Toronto.
Downtown Chicago is tougher to drive than downtown Toronto.

1800 km round trip, that's just shy of $180 in fuel costs...wow.

Just did a 250 km round trip to the beach on Sunday in the Tesla, $0, supercharger was on the way.

Yeah but you paid $100k + for the car...so it doesn't even  make sense in terms of saving money.

Shhh....thats not the way electric car math works. If you have a $5000 Echo and someone buys $150k Tesla they will make up the money they save in gas in about 2-300 years....and they have that moral superiority to laugh at you ICE peasant.
Lighten up Francis.....

For a low, low $150k you too could be limited to running around only urban areas, be "that guy in the Tesla that won't shut up about it" amongst the few friends you will have left, and you get to come on internet forums and tell people with cars that are worth a decent down payment on that fancy golf cart how much better you are than them.....sounds like a win/win situation  ::) ::)

Had a brand-spanking new Santa Fe Sport (with 2.4L, not 2.0T) as a rental vehicle in the GTA over the weekend (free upgrade from the subcompact I had booked - but none were in stock.  Is it wrong that part of me is disappointed I didn't get to try out a new small car?)

Put on about about 350 km overall, averaged 8.6 L / 100 km according to the trip computer.
On the one hand , that's pretty decent for a reasonably large CUV that hasn't been broken in yet.

OTOH, it was just me with little luggage, and driving situations that should have maximized fuel economy (lots of 80 km/h cruising, no wind, not much A/C, little traffic).  So I'm not sure if the Santa Fe could really do much better than that.  FWIW, my Forester would probably have been in the 7.5 - 8.0 L / 100 km range under similar conditions.

What's not to like about all that? LOL
Seriously, I would consider a Tesla 3 as a second car if it sold for under $30K after rebates.  But never as the only car in my family.  The time wasted on charging at charging stations during trips can be better spent AT my destination or back home.  That said, if Tesla offered supercharging stations with complementary child care and massage, then I'll consider one.  :rofl2:

Wife does the same profile with the 6, although the weekend can vary.  Usually in the summer we use the van a lot more.  But still the Mazda has an average speed of low 50 km/h, and she gets low 7s.  Pretty decent, for hitting a red light practically every 500m with a manual car.

you paid $100k + for the car...so it doesn't even  make sense in terms of saving money.

Our Tesla over 4 years will be cheaper to run and own that the Mercedes SUV it replaced.
So yeah, makes money sense for us.

I didn't mention that my Smart EV costs less than the gas money I used to pay, and that's with the added electricity, so yeah, again, EV's can save money over comparable gas cars.
