Used FX37 should prove a confident used luxury utility vehicle buy, with a focus on style.

Not sure why there is concern for the 4 wheel steering system.  My 300ZX has it (Super-HICAS) and no problems after 170k kms. A friend has over 250k kms on his and both cars have the older hydraulic system which can have hoses / lines leak as they get up in age.  However, Nissan went to an all-electric system in 94 which has been very durable.  The Infinitis basically use a version of the 94+ system.

An Inifiniti FX37 is not for everyone BUT, Mrs. Railton loves hers.
We've only had one issue with it that the dealership had to repair - the button to close the rear tailgate located on same. There's two other buttons (one on the remote and the other inside on the dash) to close the trunk lid which still worked though.
Sure, it doesn't hold much. It's getting a little long in the tooth. And, it's sure not the least expensive SUV. But, it's possibly the sportiest SUV around it's price range. Even though you sit up high, the high belt line and the seating arrangement is much more "sports car-like" than SUV-like. It's handling and exhaust note are, too. And for us, the styling of the exterior is second to none. Infiniti nailed it way back when these first came out around 2003 - they looked like no other SUV on the market.
The FX37 has more in common with a 370Z than a Titan.

I think Railton's FX has one of the nicest OEM wheels ever fitted to a vehicle.

As an Infiniti slappy like Railton, I too have always loved the FX.  Right from day 1 when it was introduced I've loved the FX.  Like Railton mentioned, it looks like no other SUV on road.  And the G Coupe exhaust note is just      If I was in the market for an SUV, this would be it.

Btw, great pic of Snowy driving yours, Ted!

Agreed, great sounds to the 5.0l FX50 units but gas hogs for sure.

Pffft, with the cost of fuel I could daily a BC ferry and it would still be peanuts  ;D Yeah, but the sound and power would be so worth it, to me.

Well, since the FX37 shares a lot with the 370Z/G37, you could put a twin turbo setup on it.  Might have to beef up the automatic a bit and do a bit of custom piping (exhaust & intercooler), but it can be done.  I've seen TT kits done on G37 AWDs which are all automatic.

Would the drivetrain take it?? I mean the thought of pulling up to this and keeping up to a GT-R is maniacally hilarious to me.  ;D

Not sure.  Probably have to beef up the transmission and transfer case if you start trying to go beyond 500WHP.

I briefly mulled over a gently used FX50 several years ago, but chickened out after considering potential fuel costs.  :)

They really do stand out design wise and have aged very well.  White seems to suit this vehicle particurily well also, and combined with the window tinting seems to accentuate the arc of the roof line much better than that of the black one I contemplated.

I love the design, but the fake chrome air vents on the side just destroy it for me...
