Test Drive: 2010 Rolls-Royce Phantom Coupe
« on: April 14, 2010, 04:07:02 am »

"It's big (especially for a two-door), it's brash and it shrieks of serious money," says reviewer Tony Whitney of the Rolls-Royce Phantom Coupe. Its rear-hinged doors "work very well" and its 453-hp V12 engine offers "impressive performance," he reports.

This exterior kinda reminds me of the Chrysler "fuselage" slab styling of the late sixties/early seventies......only waaaay better quality controls of course.
Now that I look at the interior....the heater control "sliders" repeat that same theme...interesting indeed!      ;)

No photos of your own? They all appear to be stock photos from Rolls Royce.

There are some unusual features on this car and it would have been very interesting to see photos of them. The operation of the rear hinged doors is a very interesting and possibly unique. A car that with such unusual engineering features begs for an illustration of its operation.

When I read an article that only contains stock photos I'm frequently left wondering if the author got more than a quick ride around the block with the factory representative.

I used to draw a lot of cars when I was under the age of 7 and this is what they looked like, believe it or not  ;D

This car is nearly twice the price of my house...and I think I have a nice house!

All that said, this thing is totally cool.  Ridiculous, but totally cool.

If I traded in this car (w/no depreciation of course) and threw in an extra $100K I could get a nice house small in my neighborhood. :(

US$400,000 for a Phantom Coupe.  US$250,000 for a 1970s-era four bed, two-bath house with large family and living rooms, a two-car garage, a large back yard (half-acre lot) with mature trees.  Admittedly this is Medford, not Portland or Ashland.  And that's a housing-slump price...I think the house's value was pretty close to the Phantom's price before the US housing market crashed.  But we bought during the housing slump  ;D

Sounds like a deal to me. That is about $1M+ in my neighborhood, that is if you could even find a lot that big.

The headlight treatment is weird. The rest is beautiful, and the styling hides just how big this sucker is.

What's going on with the headliner? Is it diamond encrusted or something? ???

On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.
