Vacations 2015

Soooo, which wineries have you gone to and which ones were meh/wow?

Went to Trius, Pondview and Frog Pond.  I found the best and worst at Trius, with the other two offering middling to quite good.  What I found quite surprising was the wines I ended up liking ran completely counter to my usual tastes.

The best was the Trius Vidal ice wine, i.e. their basic ice wine variety.  Quite nice.  I also tried their reds and found one of them, the Merlot I think, to be quite disappointing.  Both the Trius Red and their East Block Cabernet Sauvignon took time to grow on me.

Pondview offered the best white of the three.  Their basic Riesling was superb.  My one regret here was not buying a bottle. 😢   Their "Harmony Red" was also quite nice.

Frog Pond was unremarkable except for their Cabernet Sauvignon ice wine.  We liked it so much, we bought a bottle along with the Trius ice wine.

The final set of wines we bought was not in NOTL at all.  Rather we took advantage of the trip home to stop by the Prince Edward County area and stock up at one of our favorites:  Sandbanks Winery.

Going to Munich in September, then heading out to South Africa for two weeks.

Not without stopping by the BMW Museum and renting a vehicle there. ;D

Parents booked a jaunt to S.A. for October.  I'm VERY tempted to join.  All-in, $2,499 (no tax) for 16 days, incl airfare, accommodations, all transfers, 4 days on Safari, trip to Vic Falls, etc.  Such an amazing deal.

One of my favorite places until the tourists show up. How cold was it with the massive weather shift on the weekend.

Business trip finalised.

My vacation will therefore consist mostly of "domestic" trips this summer, namely, intra-Europe. Of course, I will take the customary week off in August.....

Thinking of visiting Montreal for a few days the week of June 29th with wife and kids. Any suggestions where to stay or visit welcomed. Might even go to Quebec city for the rest of the week.

That's right in the middle of the Jazz Festival (June 26-July 5).  Might want to confirm if you can even get a hotel, first.   ;)

Sent a P.M.

Brigitte is right, btw.  Hotel availability might be tight.  Still, it's worth it if you can find some, IMHO.   :)

You are correct. Many hotels booked so far. I'll keep on searching.

Looks like Montreal will have to pass this year, bad timing with the Jazz festival.
