Porsche 928 was also in Weird Science along with a Ferrari Mondial.

Truly disappointed you omitted the Wagon Queen Family Truckster!

And some 80s TV cars were more iconic than some listed...like KITT or The General Lee.

I read the story and didn't see it listed or a blurb about it. I did see a teeny thumbnail though.

"Ford Country Squire

Less a car than a wood-panelled ocean-liner, the Clark Griswold’s Family Truckster is an eyesore on wheels. And, if you hate it now, just wait ’til you drive it.

Star of National Lampoon’s Vacation, the Truckster’s stacked headlights and functionless gills were hacked together by George Barris in a monument to bad taste. Absolutely terrible, and very, very funny."

I intend to make this a series, and will do one on TV cars too - there are enough that they deserve their own segment: Rockford Firebird, KITT, Supernatural Impala, etc.

It was a silly movie and the book wasn't much better. But I don't care, I still get a kick out of it and always thought the Chryslers of that era looked better than the GMs or Fords.

Unibody design and torsion bar front suspension made them more advanced, though they seem to have more reliability issues.
On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.

A buddy mine owns a DeLorean.   8)  Yeah, he has put it with a whole lot of "Back to the Future" comments but he at least likes the movies!

having a delorean would be pretty cool. It just occurred to me that the hoverboard from BTTF II should have been in the poll. I loved that idea!

funny to think we're past the future in that movie, and how far along they thought technology would be.

I don't see any Aussie movies or cars from them in this list!
Running on Empty (not the River Phoenix one, the Aussie one) is one of the best car movies of all time.
It includes this rocket:

And this one:

And best of all:

Also look up, Metal Skin, Midnight Spares, and a few more.

B-Mac and I had this discussion on Twitter this morning, he says he's saving it for the 70s list, but I'm sure it was released in 1981.
Either way, it's an epic car, and probably should have been in this list.

Mad Max = 1979
Road Warrior = 1981

But good to know that it'll be on the 70's list. More appropros as that is when it was first introduced.

Close, in Back to the Future II, the "future" is 2015...  So who knows what can happen in 1.5 years..

As kids, my brother and I would watch My Science Project quite often, due to the 1968 GTO the high school student owns

A friend of mine's father had a 928 back in the 80's when we were in high school...  It's definitely one of my favorites of the era.  Risky Business was also one of the more memorable movies of the era for me most likely due to the car.

" Unibody design and torsion bar front suspension made them more advanced."

Chrysler only went to Unibody for the 1960 model year. Christine had a frame.

No stories about taking the car for some drives?

If they made the 928 today looking exactly the same but with today's drive train I'd buy one in a second.....If I had the money of course.

EDIT: The soundtrack to Risky Business by Tangerine Dream was also great.
