Wasn't mentioned in the article, but any idea if a hatch will be available?  Or even later on?  I remember Mazda did the same with the low-profile mirrors on the concept Mazda6, they look cool, but never make it to production....

WOW - that design concept is definately a step-up from current. On looks alone it's making me want to hold off on getting a current generation STi on the used market.

Hate to say it but it kind of looks like the Scion Tc. although much better looking. If they don't go with this concept as it stands they may end up looking like the Tc.

i think its a great looking concept... kind of what i would expect a concept 4 door brz to look like which i'm sure is their idea.

It would be a shame if the lights didn't end up in the final product. lights, diffuser/splitter, carbon roof, wheels... all kick ass stuff. unfortunately, they are the things that make this car impressive and all are the most likely things to get dropped come production.

nice car though and i'm sure it will be a great one whatever they have to drop when it comes time to tool.

It looks great for a WRX concept but as a current gen. heavily modified STI owner the one thing that I disliked was when Subaru matched the exterior look of the STI for the 2011 WRX. Had the STI looked just like the WRX in 2008 I probably would have taken more time to think my purchase through. The fact that it wasn't sold me on the extra costs involved with the STI over the WRX.

Yes, I am very aware of all the mechanical differences between the 2 but I am hoping on 2 things for the 2015 STI (should a new STI design exist): 1: More cosmetic differentiation over the WRX than just a a bunch of badges and wheels. 2: 33% more power than the WRX.

If Subaru can come through on these two differences I might just bite  :D

Agreed I think the WRX should be more subdued, for a more understated look for those that don't want the boy-racer look, and then the STI is free to go all out with the styling.  That way I think they'd win more sales from the GTI..

+1 while I really like the look of the current gen WRX and STi the wife finds it a bit too boy racerish. I really feel guys like Threader who bought the STI a few years back only to have Subaru basically make the WRX and STI look exactly the same. While as a potential WRX buyer I would love it as the look is just so much more bad@ss - you should get some more uniqueness considering the premium amount $$$ an STI buyer is spending. Oh and a BOV that you can hear from 2 blocks away should be standard on both models! :) I don't think I'd EVER get tired of hearing that.

I wonder how the big bossman will feel when I pull into work in a racer-blue WRX...guessing he won't be asking for a ride, but will be asking to drive it instead.

Next fall, the missus gets the '14 Forester XT, while I get me a '15 WRX.  There's no questions about it, unless the WRX goes from awesome concept to effed up production...

I'm guessing the WRX will break the 300hp mark (akin to the 335i's numbers) and the STi, if made, will be north of tree-fiddy (350hp).  I can't imagine they'd drop the hp ratings from the current 265hp, so a steady bump would indicate numbers like 300/350.

:iagree: A turbo with a silent BOV is just sacrilegious in my opinion!!
